AGOSTINHO, Joao Jose

February 23, 1935 — December 19, 2017

John Jose Agostinho went to be with the lord on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the age of 82. He is survived by his loving wife Maria Antonia Agostinho; daughter Christina (Scott); son Frank (Stephanie); grandchildren Shana and Brandon. He was predeceased by his parents Jose and Barbara. John was born in Mont du Bisbpo, Caria, Portugal on February 23, 1935. He came to Canada in 1957 and worked for CP Rail. He bought his first orchard in Oliver in 1963, raising Chris and Frank there until retirement in 1980. He then purchased a backhoe for fun which turned into a meaningful full-time job. John and Maria enjoyed being a part of the Portuguese community in Oliver. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation www.heartandstroke.ca .
