We Remember

ARCAND, Katrina May

February 13, 1986 — November 4, 2018

Sadly, and suddenly before her time, in her sleep at home, Katrina May Arcand was taken away from us on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 32 years of age. Katrina was born on February 13, 1986 in Williams Lake, BC, and moved to Kelowna when she was 5 years old with her Mom, Dad and brother.

Trina is survived by her parents, Deb and Mike Arcand of Kelowna; brother Waylon; sister-in-law Misty; nephew Logan; Grandparents Mike and Katie Postnikoff of Nanaimo; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  Predeceased by Grandma and Grandpa Dubien of Timmins, ON and her cousin Justin Dyck of Kelowna, BC.

While living in Kelowna, Trina attended Springvalley Elementary and Rutland Senior Secondary. She graduated in 2004. Trina was an amazing artist in her own right, creating a few of her own masterpieces. She loved fantasy and sparkles, Alice in Wonderland, unicorns and Lady Gaga. She even met Lady Gaga in person when she was just starting her career and appeared at Flashbacks. There is even a picture to prove it!

In her short life, Trina did have a chance to travel. She loved Vegas and Mexico, but her favourite spot was the Mayan Riviera where she went swimming with the dolphins.

Trina loved her fur babies, Chia and Pablo, even though she was allergic to Pablo. The apple of her eye though, was her nephew Logan. She just absolutely adored him.

Trina’s first job was at Tim Horton’s where she climbed the ranks to Manager within 6 years. Her next and last place of work was Value Village where she was the happiest, and where she made numerous close friends – all of whom are greatly mourning her loss.

Trina had this natural ability to make everyone feel good about themselves and was so genuinely kind. People would wait to see her come through that door in the mornings just to see her smile. She also had an amazing sense of humour and made everyone laugh.

Family, friends and others whose lives Trina touched are invited to Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 1:00 pm to gather, grieve and support each other in a Celebration of Trina’s Life.

Words truly aren’t enough to express how saddened and sorry we are to hear of the loss of Trina. As long time neighbours, we’ve watched her grow from a little girl skipping off to school to a young women heading to work in her truck often with the most wonderfully coloured hair! We offer our most sincere sympathy and hope that your happy memories of her will comfort you. With caring thoughts, Brenda & Dennis & Ashli

  • Lia Christensen says:

Katrina you will be greatly missed my dear friend! I remember when I first started at Tim’s and still hadn’t bought my car you were always the first to offer to pick me up or drop me off in bad weather and all the adventures we had with little Carissa in the back of your car, she adored you and your sparkly eyeshadow. I’ll never forget the joy she had when you passed on your MLP set and ponies. You dug it out of storage and spent hours cleaning it and brushing the ponies hair out so it would be perfect for her and we still have the ponies! I wish I had stayed in closer contact after we moved and I’ll remember you and loving nature always! Rest In Peace baby girl!

I remember once when you visited me in Nanaimo. We had a housefull and you and i shared a bed. I woke up in the morning with cookie crumbs and a chocolate chip stuck to my face. Still makes me smile when i think of it. Trina was such a special gift to all of us. As a little girl her sqeels were ear piercing and as the beautiful young woman her giggles were contiguous. How do we say goodbye to such a precious gift. Just see ya later.
