  • Doris Lomakin says:

I am one of her granddaughters, the 51 year old that lives in Southern California. I am so sorry to hear of her passing but wow! what a long and healthy life she lived!! I have nothing but best memories of her. She was always happy, friendly and willing to play games with us when my sister and I were young. She was a jokester too. She knew how to make us laugh. She was very talented with her harmonica playing. My family and I will miss her very much. Love you always, grandma! Love, Doris

  • Lorna Brewer says:

This lady raised an amazing family (with Lou of course)! Her door was always open for all who would visit. No one ever left there hungry!. Games, cards, dinners and parties were the name of the game. I was lucky enough to be included in this brood when i moved to town and met her daughter Candice (how lucky a day for me)!!! One never felt like an outsider. I will miss our private visits when it was our appt time. There are few you need to say hi to when you get to where you are going. You will be missed!

We are so sorry for the loss of your wonderful Mother Pat. She and Lou were our next-door neighbours in Kelowna in 1995. Pat was so beautiful, kind and generous. She brought so much joy to everyone around her. She was a terrific cook and gave us many samplings of her meals. She will be missed by all.

  • DAVE & BETTY MAYER says:

ALINE, LUCILLE, DIANE, CANDICE & FAMILIES,
ON MONDAY, OUR NEIGBOURHOOD LOST A JEWEL OF A PERSON. PAT LOVED LIFE AND ALL PEOPLE. SHE WAS ALWAYS THE FIRST PERSON TO WELCOME AND GREET NEW FAMILIES WHO HAD MOVED IN AROUND HER.
ALTHOUGH SHE IS GONE, SHE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. WE HAVE SUCH WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF ALL THE TIMES WE SPENT WITH HER.
WHETHER IT WAS GOING SHOPPING TO WALMART & COSTCO OR TO TIM HORTON’S, WHICH PAT LOVED DEARLY , SHE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE AND FRIENDLY WORDS FOR EVERYONE. SHE WAS A RAY OF SUNSHINE!!
OF COURSE, WE WILL NEVER FORGET OUR TIME SPENT PLAYING CARDS OR AGGRAVATION WHICH SOMETIMES LASTED INTO THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING.
WE MISS YOU PAT, BUT ALL OUR MEMORIES WILL KEEP YOU IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER. RIP PAT. AU REVOIR UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. DAVE & BETTY

  • Robert levesque says:

What a beautiful woman. We won the grandma lottery with Grandma Pat. What Joie de vivre. A lifetime of smiles, jokes, laughter and card games. My grandma partied more than I ever did. No matter the state of her hands she could not stop knitting for my children. If you had the the joy of knowing Grandma Pat you life was better because of it, more joy, more love, more life. Grandma Pat = Joie de Vivre. We miss you dearly.

  • Monique and Nicole says:

Nicole and I were so lucky to be so close to our Mamere. As we all know she had such a colorful personality. She covered the full spectrum from warm to vibrant. She had such an attractive personality which gained her many friends over her well lived 90 years. There was always laughter in the room when she was present!

Our earliest memories of our Mamere as grandchildren to Pat and Lou were visiting them in Manitoba or Kelowna and entering into their home with a huge welcome hug and straight to the table where she always had a bowl of her heart warming homemade soup and a plate of yummy cheese curds and I believe our first french sentence which we could say perfectly was “sucre a la creme”. She always made everyone feel so loved and welcomed and was genuinely interested how you were doing. I believe her joy de vivre was passed on to her children which in turn will continue to be passed on for generations to come.

Mamere put her artistic abilities to work, knitting all sorts of beautiful clothes for those she loved as well in her earlier years she supplimented their income by selling her knitted gems. In her later years, she loved knitting so much that she became famous amongst her friends and family for her warm and colorful slippers, sweaters, children’s clothes and hats.

Now this is a lady who knew how to have fun!!! We will remember our Mamere as a party animal and a practical joker. She could stay up later than most of us! She was so musically talented too! Especially with the harmonica and accordion! We always saw our Mamere as the life of the party.

We often think of the warmer colors that Mamere exuded. She had so much love and compassion that it could be seen through her eyes when she looked at you. One look or gentle touch from her and it almost felt like time stopped or slowed down for those moments. She had such a nurturing soul.

One of our fondess memories of Mamere in the last couple months of her life on earth was our visit with her at the Hospice and with her big heart she put aside any of her own problems and took out her harmonica and played “you are my sunshine ” to a patient who was suffering.
Charismatic, funny, colorful, loving. Mamere you were everyone’s sunshine and through our memories with you, you will continue to make us happy even when skies are grey.
What we are most thankful for is that she did know how much she was loved right up until the end.

R.I.P Mamere..although i can see you continuing to dance and play music and making friends up there..maybe not as much Resting. But definitely Peaceful. 😉

**I miss my BEAUTIFUL Grandma daily, and would give anything to see her just one more time**

I was cleaning out my Voice Mails today, and came across 2 from her that I had no clue were still there…What a nice surprise, and totally made my day!….I was beyond ecstatic, and will keep them forever!!….She was funny, kind, loving, NON-JUDGMENTAL, and loved me more than I loved myself….She was there through the good & bad, gave me HOPE., and never wavered….Her consistency was so much appreciated, as it got me thru the toughest times of my life….We would speak for hours on the phone, laughing, crying., and just being silly….She knew my deepest darkest secrets, & loved me UNCONDITIONALLY. <3

I do not know what I would have done without her SUPPORT, & LOVE. <3 <3

My Grandma, my best friend, my confidant, my family, my EVERYTHING.

I LOVE YOU with all my heart, and cannot wait to see you again!.

    Your Granddaughter,

    Giselle Couture~ XoXo
