BAIN, Doreen Elsie

November 29, 1934 — May 2, 2017

Doreen (Dor) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017.  She was so many things: a wonderful mother to Rick (Shelagh), Shelley (Grant) and Bobbi-Ann (Al); a caring grandmother to her six grandkids: Jeremy (Teresa), Graham (Carley), Maggie (Ken), Kyle (Katie), Owen and Justin; a happy great grandmother to Olivia, Sam, Margaux and Del.  She is also survived by her sister Violet Kilpatrick; wonderful “Auntie Vi.”  She is remembered as an outstanding citizen of Kelowna for her many accomplishments: Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, Woman of the Year; 1987 Sarah Donalda Treadgold Award.  Her community service, included many vital roles with the Kelowna First United Church, strong leadership managing the Laurel Packing House and taught effective speaking for years with the “Lady of the Lake,” during the Kelowna Regatta.  Her uniqueness will never be matched.  A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 5th at 11:00 am at the First United Church, 721 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC.  If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”
