We Remember

Baker, Irene Beatrice

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom, Irene Baker on March 5, 2017 at the age of 93 years. She was pre-deceased by her husband and love of her life Allan Baker in 1995, her son Robert (Bob) in 2012 and her daughter-in-law Carol (Larry) also in 2012. Mom is survived by her son (Larry), daughters Sheryle (Dan) and Noreen (Dennis), eight grand children and numerous great grand children.

Mom enjoyed life immensely and approached everything she did with great passion. She was involved in church activities and choir from a very young age, enjoyed several sports (particularly golf), volunteered willingly, had a love for music and thoroughly enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adeline ladies after moving to Vernon, played bridge as long as she was able and developed many friends over the years. She had a special sense of humor that she maintained until only weeks before she passed away. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mom was born in Fernie BC, moved to Red Deer AB to raise her family, retired to Vernon with Allan in 1981 and then relocated to Kelowna in 2011 where she lived until her passing.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the management and staff at Lakeview Lodge (West Kelowna) where she lived the last four years of her life. The staff members were always caring and respectful. It is comforting to know that Mom was well cared for and felt at home there.

A Celebration of Mom’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Vernon on April 22nd at 1:00. We hope you can join us in paying tribute to a special lady who enjoyed life to the fullest.
