She was skilled in watercolors and acrylics. Gene was the secretary of the Rutland Palatte Pals for six years.   Her paintings have graced many homes and institutions.

Gene and Victor loved to travel and visited many places around the world. They enjoyed cruises to the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, often wintering in the South Pacific.  They made many friends in their eleven winters spent in Yuma, Arizona.

While in the Yukon, Gene enjoyed skiing and curling. In the southern climes, she was an avid golfer and swimmer.  In her later years, she enjoyed carpet bowling in Kelowna.   She was well known in the family for always having the right word for the crossword puzzle.
