We Remember

BENNETT, Betty Loraine

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

Passed away peacefully at her home on October 18, 2017 at the age of 89.  Betty is survived by her loving husband Ken H. Bennett; three daughters, Anne (Don) Doolittle, Terry (Harry) Lent and Maureen (Ted) Angen; five of her six sons, Pat (Laurel) Bennett, Jim Bennett ( Emiko Sato), Mike Bennett (Christine Cameron), Jack Bennett (Liz Olsen) and Mark (Sandy) Bennett; 21 grandchildren and over 30 great grandchildren; brother Bill Prentice and his wife Betty; brother-in-law George Couldwell; cousin Nancy Watson (nee Adam); as well as a number of more distant cousins. She was predeceased by her son Ken Bennett (Jr.) and her sister Jane Couldwell (nee Prentice).

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother. All who knew her could not help but admire her quiet, patient, welcoming spirit. She had a great love of nature and of movement. She danced, swam, cycled, golfed, skated and skied for much of her life. Her daily walks with Ken, in all seasons, carried on into her final year of life.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 11123 Okanagan Centre Road East, Lake Country.  A Celebration of Betty’s Life and Reception will follow in the Church Hall.

The family wishes to offer special thanks to the Interior Health Home Care workers of Lake Country, the Healthy at Home staff, and to the nurses of the Central Okanagan Palliative Home Care Program, all of whom helped to make Betty’s last months at home comfortable.

    Dear Bennett clan:
I always remember the loving gatherings of the Catholic mafia out in Windermere. The Bennett’s the Bach’s and the Rocque’s were like one big family guided by the three Betty’s. Forever grateful for the loving friendship and a life time of memories.
    Greg Rocque
