It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Son/Brother/Uncle and Friend at the age of 45.
Mike fought a heroic nineteen-year battle with multiple sclerosis. He never lost his love of life or his sense of humour despite all the physical challenges life threw at him.
Mike was predeceased by his father Gerald Black and his step father Lyle Sparrow.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Black, brother Doug Currie (Sherri), nieces Amy and Samantha of Langley. sister Kelly Carter-Gowing (Steven Gowing), niece Ashley Horeman (Jory) great nephew and niece, Jorn and Freja. nephews Matthew Carter and Nicholas Gowing.
He also leaves to mourn, his beloved Aunt Marjorie Chobaniuk of North Vancouver, Uncle John Bradbury (Heather) of Lake Country.
Mike had some great friends in his life including Joyce and Bob (a friend of 30 years). Mike and Bob enjoyed watching lots of Monday Night wrestling together. Mike touched the lives of many during the course of his short life.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview Lodge for their care over the four years he lived there.
A celebration of life will be held Aug 20th, 2017.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Kelowna MS society in Mike’s name.
