BRIDGEMAN, Mabel Jessie

November 15, 1943 — September 22, 2017

Mabel Jessie Bridgeman passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on September 22, 2017 at the age of 73. She is survived by her loving husband Gordon Bridgeman; sons: Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Shane (Kimberly) Bridgeman of Kelowna, BC, Lieutenant Colonel Darryl (Dawn) Bridgeman of Melbourne, Australia; grandchildren: Olivia, William, Victoria; brothers: Gordon Davidson and Wesley Davidson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Lewis and Ethel Davidson and brothers: Allan, Wallace and Dale Davidson.

Born and raised in Tomahawk, AB, Mabel moved to Vermilion at an early age where she pursued a career with Alberta Government Telephones and met her husband of 53 years, Gordon. After living in a variety of towns in Alberta, Mabel and Gordon settled in the Okanagan in the mid 1970’s. After a short time in retail, Mabel spent over 20 years as part of the staff at Cottonwoods Extended Care in Kelowna. She was the proud mother of two sons, Shane and Darryl and of three grandchildren, Olivia, William and Victoria. Following her retirement, Mabel was very active with the Order of the Eastern Star and was an indispensable part of her husband’s business.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Central Okanagan Hospice House for their outstanding care and compassion during Mabel’s final days. A private interment will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017, followed by a reception at Springfield Funeral Home Family Centre at 12:00 pm.
