We Remember

CARTER, James William

October 13, 1940 — March 31, 2017

Jim was born in Provost, Alberta on October 13, 1940. He passed away peacefully on March 31, 2017.  Jim is predeceased by his parents, Glee and Doug Carter, and his sister Marsha.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley; daughter Stacey (Todd) Sinclair and granddaughter Shanaya; and son Darrin (Lisa) Carter and grandson Zack.  He will also be affectionately remembered by his sister MaryLynn Schneider and her husband Dennis; sisters-in-law Bernice Thomson and Louise Schmidt; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog Coco who loved him with all her heart…and he loved her to the moon and back.

Among his passions were the Saskatchewan Roughriders, frying bacon shirtless, and a great glass of wine. Jim will be missed dearly by his family, but will always be remembered for his ability to see the best in others, his positive attitude and infectious laugh.  No service will be held, as per Jim’s wishes.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer for family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9 (www.heartandstroke.ca/get-involved).

Shirley, Darrin, Stacey, Shanaya and Coco,

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jim. He was everything a husband, father and grandfather should be and much more. He exuded kindness from his every pore. He was by far the nicest and most genuine man I will ever have the pleasure of knowing. I shared very special moments over the years with him that I will cherish forever. He will be greatly missed.

  • Terry and Deanna Florence says:

Deanna and I would like to send our condolances to Shirley and her family on the loss of Jim! Jim was a very thoughtful man who always had a smile for everyone he met.
