At the age of 96, Marian passed peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Kelowna General Hospital.
Beloved wife of the late Wesley (Nick) Carter, sister to Frances Allen and to Dorothy McKays (deceased) and predeceased by her sons Billy (1940) and Kenny (1963). She is survived by her son Nicholas and was adored by family and friends.
Born in Edmonton in 1921, Marian grew up in Cranbrook, met and married her husband Nick in Banff in 1950. As well as being a wife and mother, Marian was her late husband’s partner in the many businesses and ranches they owned and operated in Alberta and in British Columbia.
Known for her elegance, she also enjoyed the country life, horses, birds, but especially cats.
Marian’s warmth and kindness was gladly given to all who met and knew her. Strongly independent, she lived life on her own terms. She travelled the world with her husband, with her sister and by herself. Ever the optimist, she loved and enjoyed life to its fullest. She will be deeply missed by all.
