We Remember

CHRISTIAN, Barbara June

June 13, 1931 — November 3, 2016

I was a Wife, Mother, Gammie, Friend and a Lover of Dogs!!

I raised three great children in Kelowna where my husband, Frank, and I moved in 1963. I had a wonderful marriage for 50 years.  My husband and I ran a successful business that truly enriched our lives and benefitted the community and our great city of Kelowna.  I had many family trips to Hawaii with my children.  I have fond memories of taking my children to Disneyland, camping trips in our motorhome and listening to Neil Diamond on the 8 track!!  I loved spending time at Big White and relaxing at our family cottage on Okanagan Lake.

My family consists of my three children: Randy and Lorinda, who live in Kelowna and Liana, who lives in Vancouver. I have four beautiful grandchildren: Alexa, Kaeden, Ryley and Gage. My sister Pearl lives in Grimsby, Ontario.  I have a sister-in-law, Jeannie who lives in Las Vegas.

My special memories of my home are in summers, being with my kids and grandkids in the pool. I especially enjoyed having them for sleepovers that included “Tea Parties,” picnics and walks with my dog Cici.  When we were running our car dealerships, I traveled with my husband to many exciting cities around the world.  I also spent many happy times at our house in Maui and later at our place in Scottsdale, Arizona with my husband and friends.  I loved gardening and being in the greenhouse surrounded by my flowers.  I also remember Big White and spending time there with my husband skiing and enjoying our condo.  I was most comfortable when I was at home with my family around me.

I would like to thank the incredible staff at the Village at Mill Creek for taking such great care of me. I also want to thank Home Instead Senior Care who were with me for the last four years and made an incredible difference in my life.

  • Arnie and Susan Fine says:

To the Christian family, so sad to learn of this news, yet soothing to read her own words and know what a wonderful life Barb had, from her marriage to such a wonderful partner, to her love of family; at home and wonderful places around the globe. Thinking of you all and hoping as time goes by, the sorrow will be replaced by good memories.
    Arnie and Susan Fine.

    • Jan Pacholzuk says:

I remember the good times that I had with Barbie and Frank. Barbie was one of the first friends I met when I came to Kelowna and we stayed friends all this time. She was always a true friend to me. We were all involved with swimming and the Kelowna Aqua Jets. Our families spent many years in Hawaii together, our children still talk about how much fun we had together. I know you are happy now Barbie, up there with Frankie. Much love………..Jan Pacholzuk.

  • Barb Wolfe says:

Randy…so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing.
I hope you find peace in beautiful memories and knowing that she and your dad are together again.
