We Remember

CROWELL, DOUG

Doug Crowell (Dougie) passed away suddenly on Monday March 20th 2017 at the age of 64. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Bev; son Shaun (Julie); his mother Norma; brothers: Brian and Kevin (Melinda), sisters: Heather (John), Gail (Alec), Jeanne (Paul) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his father Marvin and his step father Ross Tissington.

Doug was a wonderful son, loving husband, amazing father, supportive brother, uncle, co-worker and friend. He enjoyed being a parts man in Grand Prairie, Maple Ridge and Kelowna, where he spent the last 20 years at Kelowna Ford Lincoln. Some of the things Doug loved to do were: biking, fishing, camping, watching sports and spending time with family. Doug will be greatly missed by the people he touched.

Think of something you couldn’t live without

… and multiply it by a hundred.

Think of what happiness means to you

… and add it to the feeling you get on the best days you’ve ever had.

Add up all your best feelings and take away all the rest, and what you’re left with is exactly how ‘I feel about you.

You matter more to me than you can imagine and much more than I’ll ever be able to explain.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the Ramada Inn, 2170 Harvey Ave., Kelowna, BC.

Condolences

  • Ken Hiles says:

Dear Bev and Shaun: It is hard to put into words the terrible loss felt by all of us at Kelowna Ford Lincoln. Doug’s passing is first and foremost in everyone’s mind. We are living in a stage of disbelief and are so sorry for you both. Doug was an absolute rock for us here. He was our go-to guy in the Parts Department and loved by everyone in the dealership. Beyond that is the total respect each and every person had for him. That respect went far beyond our walls to the many, many customers and outside suppliers he dealt with each and every day. It seemed like Doug was always there for us and he never turned anyone away, no matter how busy he was. There is a void here, and although we will eventually fill the position, we will never replace the person. I personally worked with Doug for over 18 years. It has sincerely been my pleasure to spend my time with your Doug. Thank you for that. Sharing your loss: Ken Hiles.

  • Doug and Carol Balcome says:

Bev and Shaun, are hearts are breaking. You have all been such a part of our lives albeit a few miles away; we are so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. So many years, so many memories . . . Hugs and condolences to you.

  • Russell Stashko says:

One of my first recollections of Doug was in Junior High. He was one of the cool dudes who had a motorbike. Most of the guys had black Honda 90’s but Doug stood out, his was a red Suzuki 85 – he won it on from a Brylcream (a little dab’ll do you) contest. He was one of the “gang” that usually congregated at parties and I him and Wayne were always there. RIP old friend.

  • Brent King says:

Sorry for the loss of your brother Kevin, blessings to you and the family.

  • Don Wigelsworth says:

    Dear Bev and Shaun
What a shocker. My condolence to both of you. Sorry never got to meet you Shaun but your dad talked about you all the time when we went to the Cactus Club for lunch. My memory of your dad and your husband goes back to 1970 when Doug and I moved to Calgary to work and live with my mom. Doug will be in my thoughts for every.

  • Greg Marcy says:

I remember playing hockey with Doug in Grande Prairie when we were young. He was a fierce competitor on the blue line when playing the game and I was always “very glad” he was on my team. I also remember his special laugh and stories when on our road trips; our parents had to do the driving so we often rode together. Doug and I never hooked up in Kelowna but I had a chance to talk to him on the phone instead when in the area last time. My thoughts are with his family at this time. Greg Marcy

  • Rick and Corinne Hetherington says:

I was so very saddened to hear of Dougs passing. I’ll always remember his quiet and kind disposition and his great smile. Bev, Shaun and Julie, aunt Norma , and all the rest of Dougs family, we are so sorry for the loss of Doug way too soon. Thinking of and praying for all of you. Love always, Rick, Corinne, Sarah and Jenn Hetherington

  • Dr. Jillian Belbin and Dr. Lincoln Loo says:

Bev and family – we are all very sorry to hear the news of Doug’s passing. Please know that our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

  • Bob Hetherington says:

Bev, Shaun, Auntie Norma and the rest of the Crowell-Tissington family.
Lynn and I are very heartbroken with the loss of Doug. Although we grew apart, as many cousins do, I remember well the two or three visits a year that brought us together as kids. Gatherings at Gramma and Grampas in Vermilion, trips to Grand Prairie are among my fondest memories of my closest cousin Dougie. I have and will cherish those memories forever. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time. Bob and Lynn Hetherington and Family.
