DIMARIA, Giovanna
February 14, 1925 — January 3, 2017
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Giovanna DiMaria. She was predeceased by her husband, Rosario, in 2000 and survived by her children: Sam (Patti), Mary Hawes (Jim), Tony (Maria) and Sara Cimino (Tony). Her ten grandchildren were the joy of her life: Joanna (Phil), Marina (Thomas), Jenna, Stefan, Santina (Jonathan), Antonio (Madelyn), Samantha (Adam), Jamie, Anthony and Ross. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the wonderful staff and caregivers at the Hollywood Unit at Sunpointe Village. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 6 at 7:00 pm; followed by a Funeral Service on Saturday, January 7, at 10:30 am, both at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1077 Fuller Avenue, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, 2268 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 1T2. Our deepest condolences on the passing of your mom/ Nonna. A beautiful life has come to an end may she live on in our memories of her. I remember being at the orchard maybe 15 years ago, and she fed a million of us with the ease of someone who has done this her whole life. We felt welcome and fed and loved in her home but most especially by her smile.

We are very sorry for the loss of Giovanna. I trust that she has found her Rosario and will soon reconnect with my parents and continue their friendship in heaven. I am glad i read the paper albeit a bit late and i was able to attend the service on Saturday. Mary’s words brought tears to my eyes as i recalled the times my parents would spend at the orchard with your folks and the abundance of vegetables they would bring back from the day. I was thinking that i had not cried much in the last bit and perhaps i was healing since my mom left us, but today the memories returned as did the tears. Sam, Patti, I trust we will get together shortly and share a toast in remembrance of them all. God Bless .
