We Remember

DOS SANTOS, Jose

Jose passed away on May 2, 2016 at the age of 69 with his loving family by his side. Jose leaves behind his wife of 48 years Maria Alice as well as his two sons, Victor (Grizela), Luis (Diana) and his daughter Izabel, 7 grandsons, Nikolas, Nole, Victor, Daniel, Christian, Jaxson, and Logan.  He also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law Adelino and Maria de Deus, niece Sylvia (Pat), nephew Carlos, great nephew Davis as well as family in Portugal and France.

Jose was born August 26, 1946 in Silvares, Portugal and came to Canada along with his wife in 1968 to start a new life. They settled in Osoyoos where they had a successful farm and fruit stand and this is where they raised their three children.

Joe, as everyone called him had a love for life and for all those around him; he loved to fish, garden, socialize, loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched, though he will always be with us as we carry him in our hearts.

Prayers will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes, 2547 Hebert Road, West Kelowna, BC with a funeral service at 12:30 pm. His family would like to thank Dr. Andre Hugo, his assistant Stephanie, and the palliative team that made his final days comfortable at home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please make a donation in Jose’s name to Okanagan Care or Central Okanagan Hospice Association 104 – 1456 St. Paul Street Kelowna, BC V1Y 2E6.

  • KC, Karen and Lee Chavda says:

Joe was very good fishing buddy, a mentor, a neighbour and a great friend who always looked after people he loved. I learned how to prune fruit trees, make Prosciutto, program IPTV boxes and work hard. Lee will miss a great fishing buddy. They always teased each other on who got the first, biggest or most fish any time we went fishing. As a neighbour, Joe was always willing to lend a hand on any project I was involved with, no matter how back breaking the project. We all will miss is jovial presence and witting conversation. I will miss a great friend. God Bless..
