We Remember

DOUILLARD, Katherine Madeline “Kaye” (nee Schneider)

September 1, 1921 — November 1, 2015

Surrounded by the love of her family, Kaye went home to be with her Lord on November 1st. Kaye was born in Allan, Sask. to Jacob and Martha Schneider, where she lived until moving to Kelowna with her family in 1931. She worked in the cannery, as a maid and other odd jobs, until she met her future husband, Leo. Kaye and Leo were married on July 1, 1941 in Kelowna. They eventually formed Douillard Construction, where she was active in the company until retiring but her most important job of all was raising her 7 children. Mom will be greatly missed by her loving children Ron (Deb), Dave (Jan), Brian (Wendy), Carol (Bob), Debbie (Howard), Richard (Joan), Kevin (Connie) and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was predeceased by Leo, her loving husband of 69 years, her brother Nick, sisters Marie, Elizabeth, Anna and Maggie. She is survived by her brother Joe (Kay) Schneider. Kaye loved to host, whether it be incredible meals around the table or a rip roaring party for family and friends. Mom’s many other pastimes included square dancing, curling, knitting, she especially loved fishing and traveling with family and friends. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel towards the caring staff at Sutherland Hills. We will forever appreciate their thoughtful gestures given towards all the family. Prayers will be held at Springfield Funeral Home on Springfield Road at 7 pm on Nov. 20th.  Mom’s Celebration of Life will be held at St. Charles Garnier Church on Benvoulin Road at 10:30 am on Nov. 21st. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated by the family.

“Mom, you are always with us,

Your beautiful face,

Unconditional love,

A smile that lit up a room,

You were the most priceless of all treasures.

One last battle you could not win,

All too soon we were out of time.

Our heart broke into a million pieces,

But great memories we will always keep,

As your bright smile shines down from heaven.”

We love you Mom xoxo
