We Remember

WADGE, Emily

September 18, 1921 — June 24, 2018

Emily passed away peacefully with family at her side June 24, 2018 at Orchard Manor, Kelowna BC. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Wadge (1988), an older sister Eva and four older brothers, Jim, Lou, Bill and Les.

She is survived by her daughter Anne Marie Brousseau (Mike) and son Graham Wadge. Grandmother to Dana Brousseau (Jessica), Tyler Brousseau (Karen), and Megan Brousseau (JF). Great Grandmother (known as GG) to Elise Brousseau (10), Knox Brousseau (9), and Nolan Brousseau (5). Favourite Aunt and Great Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

Music was Emily’s passion and most natural talent. With no formal training and the inability to read sheet music, she was able to hear any song once and then play it with remarkable precision and accuracy. To partner this talent, she had an opera quality mezzo-soprano voice which she used to inspire others throughout Eastern North America. She used her musical ability to minister to others and shared her passion by way of singing hymns in church, jingles for the local Regina radio station, and was always in demand for weddings, funerals, and other events. Emily was a life-long volunteer with the Salvation Army, produced audio books for the blind and in later years, created and delivered programs for several long-term care facilities in Toronto and Kelowna; it became her ministry. Emily played piano at her residence four days before she passed. She was truly an accomplished vocalist, pianist, organist, and to those who knew her well, an entertainer.

Many thanks to the staff of Orchard Manor, who cared for Emily so well, enjoying her sense of humour and music. Thank you also to Dr. David Whiting, who treated her with dignity and compassion.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday July 21, 2018, Good Samaritan Mountain View Village, 1540 KLO Road, Kelowna, BC at 1:30 pm.
