We Remember

FLEMING, Margaret Jane (Jean) MCSP

March 26, 1928 — June 3, 2015

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Margaret Jane (Jean) Fleming on June 3, 2015 in Kelowna at the age of 87. Jean is survived by Captain Louis B. Fleming, her husband of over 60 years, her daughter Elaine (Scott) of North Vancouver, her son Mark (Brenda) of Kelowna and her treasured granddaughters, Clare and Lucy Fleming. Jean is further survived by sister Ruby Pollock and niece Karen Pollock of London, England. Jean and Ruby were born in a rural setting in Northern Ireland near Ballymena. Following school, Jean trained as a Physiotherapist in Dublin. After graduating, while working in a Ballymena hospital, she met her future husband, a young officer from the British Merchant Navy. Jean and Louis started a family, immigrating to North America in 1966 and settling in Vancouver by 1970. Following a period in Hong Kong, Jean and Lou returned to British Columbia, eventually moving to Kelowna, in 1998 to be near their new granddaughter. No formal service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”
