HEGION, Diana Louise
September 7, 1948 — February 19, 2019
Diana, born on September 7, 1948 in Penticton, passed way on February 19, 2019 at Kelowna General Hospital after an 18-month battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Rob; children: Jessica Hegion (Ryan Finley), Taylor (Chelsea Ward) and Graham Adderley (Nazanin Saebi); sisters Kathy Becker and Barbara Maguire; favourite nephew Benjamin Becker (Christin Uebing) and their son Leon; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family. The apple of her eye was her grandson, Lincoln, as she always referred to him as her baby. Di had a wonderful life as a travel advisor and spent much of her time seeing a good portion of the world. She was also involved with teaching in the travel industry at Okanagan College for the best part of five years. Rob and Di spent twelve great years with many friends living in the small fishing village of San Pancho, Mexico. She experienced the best of both worlds: the beautiful weather in Kelowna during the summers, and the warm, sunny weather in Mexico during the winters. She spent many hours in her Kelowna garden and loved the colour and fragrance in her flower beds and hanging baskets. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the nurses and doctors at Kelowna General Hospital for their attention during her time spent there. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, we would kindly ask that donations be made in Di’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, www.cancer.ca.

I was sorry to hear of Diana’s passing. I have known her for many years and she always had the
smile that made you just have to smile back. My sympathies to your family. May your happy memories bring comfort.

We were beyond saddened to learn of Diana’s passing. Brian my husband and I met Diana way back in 1980 through my sister Margaret and her husband Brad. Our bond of friendship was forged that very first year by our shared love of reading and sharing books. Although we did not see each other often over the years, I always sensed a kindred spirit in Diana. I know you are up there above us in that place called heaven Diana, undoubtedly helping someone in need. Your kind heart would have it no other way. I wish I had been there to give you one last hug. Our hearts are filled with sadness at the passing of Diana. We met way back in 1980 via my sister Margaret and developed a deep bond from that very first meeting. It was sharing our love of reading and sharing books and authors that forged that friendship right from the start. Although we rarely saw each other over the years as we lived in Calgary, Diana and I always felt like kindred spirits. Undoubtedly she is in heaven, lending a helping hand to someone … it was her way ❤️, Her loving presence will be missed by all of us, indeed by everyone whose lives she touched with her kind caring ways.

A sad day for many including myself as Diana touched many lives in her life , she always smiled and you could only smile with her, as she had an infectious personality. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to all her family . Rest in Peace Diana.

I am sorry for your loss. Diana was my teacher at Okanagan College many years ago. Her passion for traveling was obvious and contagious. I am originally from Mexico and I remember how much Diana liked visiting Mexico. She was a great teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May peace and comfort find you during this difficult time.
It was with shock that we heard of Diana’s passing and filled us both with sadness. She was such vibrant and loving person and our lives are richer for having known her. Our sincere condolences go to Rob and the family.

Rob, Jess and Taylor, I was so shocked and saddened to hear this news. Diana was such a fun person, I always appreciated her straight forward approach to life and she always said it like it is. I haven’t seen her much over the last few years, but when I did she would always share how proud she was of you Jess (and Lincoln of course) and Taylor. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts through this difficult time. I hope to run into you soon Robbie so that I can give you the biggest hug ever and share some stories from the good old days. Xoxo

We are really sad to hear of Diana’s passing. Diana was so vibrant and free-spirited, a kind and giving person. She will be greatly missed. Our condolences go out to you, Rob and your family.
Our hearts are so broken for your family. The right words are so hard to find. Di will be missed by so many. She was loved and cherished by every life she touched. I’ll miss our chats sipping our wine surrounded by her beautiful gardens. Di was the matriarch of our Kimatouche family.. We had the privilege of being introduced to the Hegion’s San Poncho neighbours while in Mexico and were not surprised to see how much she was loved by friends and neighbours there too. She was a true caring friend to many and will be sorely missed.
Rob and Family, I am so sorry to hear of Dianna’s passing. She will be remembered for her huge infectious smile, and her warm and caring heart.. I have fond memories of spending the day with you both in San Poncho a couple years back. She will be missed. My thoughts are with you all at this difficult time.

It’s been really hard to think of saying goodbye to Di. She was a memory maker. Every time you interacted with her you knew that it would a memory you would cherish for the rest of your life. That she would make you feel loved, understood and she would make you smile! She had the kindest heart, and the greatest love for her family; and, she made everyone feel as special as her family. She was a spirited soul that will NEVER be forgotten. Di, I hope your basking in the sun, drink in hand, million watt smile in place, dancing… in our wonderful memories you will live on forever.
