Hellmut went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2017 at the age of 94 ½ years. Survived by his loving wife Patricia Hemmerling (Piercey, Evans); daughters: Shirley (David) of Mayerthorpe, AB, Linda of Edmonton, AB; son: Allen (Mary) of Victoria, BC; sisters: Betty Ann (Bob) Frost of Kelowna, BC, Janet (Al) Hait of Kelowna, BC; brothers: Clarence (Lynn) Rode of Kelowna, BC, Herbert (Shirley) Hemerling of Kelowna, BC; stepchildren: Deborah, Gordon, Cheryl, Bradley; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife, Hertha Ella Hemmerling, October 1986; brother, Otto Hemmerling, December 2016; brother, Bill Hemerling, March 2017; mother, Emma Hemmerling in 1944; father, Fred Hemmerling, January 1985. Hellmut was born in Poland on October 10, 1922 and came to Canada with his parents, Fred and Emma Hemmerling in 1928. In 1936, Hellmut moved with his family to Kelowna, BC, where he remained living until his death. Hellmut served in the Canadian Army during World War II and went overseas to serve in Belgium and Holland. He owned and worked on his orchard in North Glenmore. He sang in the male choir for many years at Trinity Baptist Church and was involved with the Business Men’s Fellowship in Canada. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday July 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mercy Ships Charity Hospital Ship www.mercyships.org or Next Generation Building Fund www.trinitychurchkelowna.ca/financial-donations/ .
