We Remember

HILLMAN, Gabriel Wilfred Alexander Paproski

November 10, 1994 — October 30, 2018

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our precious angel Gabriel when he was called home much too early.  Gabe was born in Edmonton, AB and moved to Kelowna when he was one and lived most of his life in Kelowna.  Gabriel was a beautiful soul who was a kind, hard-working and touched many lives in his short time with us. Gabe grew up in a loving home and will be forever missed by his parents Kevin and Carol-Ann, sister Tasha, Grandpa Lyle Hillman and Cynthia Swan, Granny Louise Paproski, and many aunts and uncles, cousins and many friends.  He was predeceased by his Grandma Patricia Hillman and Grandpa Ken Paproski.  He will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, thoughtfulness, intelligence, entrepreneurial spirit and many friends who appreciated him for who he was.

Gabriel had many interests, he played many sports, including Tennis and Badminton (Dad’s favorites) Golf (Mom’s favorite) Baseball, and Soccer.  He was an active scout, loved extreme camping and he attended a number of Scout Jamborees, where he learned that “Dancing Queen” could scare away bears.  Gabe was amazing with computers and technology and loved Anime and video games.  Gabe also loved his cat Jaggy, who has been his buddy for the past 12 years. Gabriel was very close to his sister Tasha and was protective of her throughout his life.

Gabriel was ambitious and hardworking; as a teenager, he was going to be a millionaire by the time he was 30.  He started delivering newspapers when he was only 12, he also worked at McDonalds, Little Caesars, and Canadian 2 for 1 pizza, all before he finished high school.  When he was only 18, he wanted to buy his own business, and purchased his Happy Pineapple Hawaiian Shaved ice business.   He also completed a year and a half of business and marketing at Okanagan College.

The burdens of society pulled him down, but we will all remember his big heart and his courage to dance in the rain.  Until we meet again, may we carry in our hearts all our fond memories of Gabriel.

Please come to our celebration of Gabriel’s life, Prayers on Thursday, November 15th, 7:00 pm, Funeral with Celebration of Life to follow on Friday, November 16, 11:00 am all at Dormition of the Mother of God, 1091 Coronation Ave, Kelowna, BC.  Please wear some purple as it was one of his favorite colors. Thank you for all your prayers and support for our precious son Gabriel and Family.  May angels carry him peacefully to Heaven.  We loved you very much and will continue to send our love to you for eternity.

Kevin, Carol-Ann – was so terrible and heart-breaking to hear about the loss of Gabriel. Upon our initial introduction way back in 2001, I immediately considered Gabriel a friend I could trust and confide in. Even as a young boy, his genuine, supportive, and hospitable demeanour was quickly evident and unwavering into young adulthood. As your long-time friend, please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime…. Rupert
