HOHN, Edmond
November 10, 1928 — April 20, 2017
Peacefully on April 20, 2017, Edmond Hohn went to be with his Lord and Saviour. Cherishing his memory and celebrating his life are his wife, Manetta, of 58 years, his children Glenda (Jurgen) Kannwischer, Sharlene (Wilf) Mueller, Calvin (Susanne) Hohn, Rhonda (Emile) Moured, as well as his grandchildren Lauren, Allison (Mark), Michelle, Jessica, Ysabelle, Elianna, Gabriella and one great-granddaughter, Selah. Edmond was predeceased by his parents, Teofil and Holdine Hohn, stepfather Nick Peters and brothers Hartley and Walter.
Edmond was born on November 10, 1928 in Reston, Manitoba and grew up on a farm in Swan River, Manitoba. Ed committed his life to the Lord and was baptized when he was 15. He later attended the Christian Training Institute in Edmonton. He felt God’s call on his life, and although he considered himself a shy, country boy, he declared himself available to serve the Lord. This led him to college and seminary in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
God led Ed to his sweetheart, Manetta, whom he often referred to as his perfect life-mate in ministry. They married on July 30, 1958, and after graduating from North American Baptist Seminary, began ministry at Nokomis Baptist Church in Saskatchewan. Together they raised their children and established churches as God led –in Saskatoon, Surrey, and Kelowna. Ed’s gentle and humble spirit, strength of leadership and pastoral heart impacted many lives. In 1981 Ed became the Area Minister for the NAB conference in B.C. and enjoyed travelling the province, encouraging the pastors and churches. Ed’s wisdom and passion for expanding God’s kingdom were appreciated and valued. During these years, he also enjoyed a few ministry trips to Cameroon, Africa where he welcomed the opportunity to teach and see the mission field first hand. Always enjoying his time with different ethnic groups, Ed decided upon retirement that he wasn’t finished as a pastor and spent two years leading his Chinese friends at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Richmond. He became the spiritual father of many young people there and treasured the relationships that were formed.
Upon retirement in Kelowna, Ed and Manetta enjoyed time with friends and relatives, and travelling to visit their children and grandchildren. His competitive spirit meant Ed was a serious game player in most of these gatherings, and he would remember every card played in a Rook game. He loved his family immensely, was a good listener and encourager and a faithful prayer warrior.
With his recent health decline, Ed was very ready to go to his heavenly home, and his steadfast calm and peace in the hospital encouraged his family, visitors and staff.
A celebration of Edmond’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29th at Trinity Baptist Church, 1905 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, B.C. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial contributions can be made to North American Baptist Conference Missions, www.nabconference.org/missions or The Gideons International in Canada, www.gideons.ca.

Condolences
Our sympathy to you and your whole family at this difficult time in your lives. We are thinking of you all. I know My Mother wishes she lived closer so she could come to be with you for the funeral, but she is not able to travel that far anymore.
Dear Eileen. Thanks you for your condolences. It was quite sudden for us that Ed (88) passed away. His leaking heart valve was giving more problems over he months.
Now we hear of the passing of your mother. So sorry and my condolences to you and your family. Was it a sudden thing? Alma phoned me the day after Ed passed. So nice to talk with her. Now the work of taking care of everything. Could you please send me a brochure of the funeral
I wrote to Edit Krommer in Hungary and let her know.
May God give you His peace during this time and also daily strength for work ahead.

Dear Manetta and all your loved ones,
You are all in my thoughts and prayers, Such a sorrowful and difficult time for all of you. Pastor Ed will be missed so much, by all you dear ones, and also so many others whose lives he touched.
Pastor Ed was such an important part of my walk as a new believer. He was my mentor, teacher and encourager, as you were also, Manetta.
My prayer for all of you, is that you will all experience God’s peace, grace and comfort.

Pastor Ed is so very dear to us. He impacted us with his love, care, wisdom and heart. He showed us how to lead and love by how he lived. We are grateful for all he is and all he gave as he poured into so many of us. Our thoughts and prayers go to you at this difficult time that our great Comforter meet you in your grief and fill you with peace and love. We are looking forward to celebrating Pastor Ed’s life lived well with you this weekend.

Dear Manetta and family,
We were very saddened by the declining health and recent passing of your dear Ed. We rejoice with you in knowing that he is now safe in the presence of the Lord. Although we have only known you both for a short time, our hearts were very blessed by Ed’s gentle and deep love for the Lord and for all Gods people.
I have just returned from Edmond’s funeral service at Trinity. It was so well done. It was an impacting testimony of how one man’s life can influence the next generation unto Jesus. My wife and I were truly saddened to hear of Ed’s passing, and are sad for the loss to Manetta and the family. We know your strong faith will sustain and lift you. Edmond was an encouragement to me personally in my mission work.
