HOHWY, Stefan Anders

January 4, 1931 — December 1, 2016

In loving memory of Stefan Hohwy, who passed away on December 1, 2016 at the age of 85 after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife and soulmate, Carmella as well as a large extended family in Denmark and Quebec.

Stefan was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on January 4, 1931. Stefan was an exceptional man, warm and welcoming, endowed with a curious mind and a remarkable culture. He has shown intelligence, lucidity and serenity until the last days of a fantastic and busy life. His unfailing kindness, genuine interest in others, sharp intellect, thirst for learning, positive outlook, curiosity – and so much more – was truly an inspiration to others. Stefan was a loving and kind man that you could not help but love. He lived every day fully and took time to find pleasure in everyday experiences such as a sunny day, the beauty of nature that surrounds us and the joy he found in a simple outdoor walk. To those that knew and loved him, his memory will never grow cold.

For many years, Stefan owned his own antique shop in Vancouver. He was a past president of the antique association. In Calgary, he had his own retail fur business for over 25 years. Stefan was qualified to evaluate antiques and paintings.

Special thanks to the wonderful and caring staff of the Central Okanagan Hospice House in Kelowna. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna BC. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society http://www.cancer.ca/en/donate/?region=bc.

    Although I only knew him for a short time I valued our friendship and quickly discovered a wise, charming, warm and caring man with a ready smile who will be sorely missed. With deepest sympathy to Carmella and all the family.

    Nos sincères condoleances a toi Carmella l âme soeur de ton amour Stefan un gentleman un vrai, un homme d une très grande valeur , d une intelligence vive, qui avait soif de connaissances, il n avait aucun jugement il acceptait les gens tel qu ils étaient.
    Il était un homme heureux et amoureux de la vie.
    Il sera toujours dans mon coeur il y a laisser une trace tres profonde et je suis très reconnaissante que cet homme merveilleux ai traverser ma vie un mode de vie a suivre
    Une nouvelle étoile est né
