We Remember

HOLT, Ross Norman

With great sorrow, the family of Ross Norman Holt, announce his passing on May 14, 2017 in Kelowna, BC. Ross was born December 23, 1925 in Oxbow, SK to John Samuel Wallace Holt and Charlotte (Lottie) Griffin. Ross is remembered with love by his three children, Rosanne (Stan) Softley of Provo, UT, Wallace (Sheila) Holt of Magrath, AB and Merrilee Holt of West Kelowna and by the loves of his life, his 10 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Also, survived by his siblings, Rosina Brown, Val Fontaine and Wally and 4 step-children Danny, Debbie, Bill and Scott Foley. Ross was predeceased by his first wife Ada Annie Massey (1983) and by his second wife Shirley Foley (2015), his parents, sister Doris and brothers Bill, Bob and Owen and 1 great-grandson. Ross retired from Regina to Kelowna in 1985. He was an active member of the Westside Seniors where he ran the bingo for 12 years and was president for 3 and was Westside Senior of the Year in 2006. During his Kelowna years, Ross and Shirley extensively toured North America, Europe and Asia, and enjoyed many nights around the campfire with the Westside Spanners. The funeral service will be held on Friday May 19 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2170 McDougall Road in West Kelowna. The service can also be viewed live on the Facebook group “Ross Holt Memorial” which everyone is invited to join. A meet the family and viewing will be held 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday May 18 at the Springfield Funeral Home at 2020 Springfield Road in Kelowna.
