JESKE, Herbert

May 30, 1930 — January 16, 2017

On the morning of Monday, January 16, 2017, Herbert Jeske, age 86, entered the eternal Haven of Rest to be with the Lord. Herbert was born in Zelanka, Poland on May 30, 1930 to his parents Amalie and Gottlieb Jeske.  In 1951 he immigrated to Canada and in 1954 was married to Lina Lehmann. He lived most of his life in Edmonton, working for many years as a welder, and caring for his family. He was also an active member of the German Church of God there. Herb was a hard worker and willing to help others. In 2011 Herbert and Lina moved to Kelowna where he resided until his passing.

He leaves to mourn his passing his dear wife, Lina; son Siegbert (Heidi) Jeske, daughter Malis (Raymond) Seida; son Marvin (Isolde) Jeske; and 4 grandchildren, Kimberly, Karoline, Alayna and Jason. He also leaves 2 sisters, Hilde (Willi) Gerhard and Magda(Herman)Kemp, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Gottfried Jeske. A Viewing will take place from 10 – 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Church of God, 3705 Mission Springs Drive, Kelowna. There will be a luncheon at the Church following the service.  Interment to follow at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC.  Should family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Herb’s memory to The Gideons International Canada, PO Box 3619, Guelph, ON N1H 7A2 (www.gideons.ca).

    Dear Malis, Ray, Kim and Karoline. Though I didn’t get to know your dad/grandpa too well I remember how your parents stayed with mine after they had their accident. I’m sure they had some lovely visits. It is a fond memory for me, as it was the beginning of our friendship. You are cherished friends and I wish you God’s comforting presence during this sad time. May your memories help to fill the ache in your hearts.

    Our deepest sympathy to your Mom and the rest of your family. We have good memories of your family when we lived in your basement after we got married, many, many years ago.
