  • David Mcbride says:

My deepest condolences to Al’s family. I worked with Al controlling in Montreal. Always a fun guy to be around. It was really disappointing to hear of his passing.

  • Peter Pastras says:

We wished you the best in your retirement when you left Toronto ACC but it didn’t last nearly long enough. You will be missed, my friend.

  • David Hales says:

Missing you big guy. Happy to have had the opportunity of getting to know Al better. We had lots of fun flying our quad machines and Al was always fun to be around, he lived life fully.

  • Kathy Fox says:

My sincere condolences to Al’s family. I first met Al at McGill University through skydiving. Later, thanks to Al, I found out about ATC careers with Transport Canada. Al was a course ahead of me. We kept in touch through the years until I left NAV CANADA in 2007. It’s a shock to hear of his untimely passing, so young. I have great memories of good times, especially skydiving, and in the early years of ATC. If a service is held in Ottawa (I live in Gatineau), I would certainly try to attend.

  • Jim Pischak says:

My condolences to the family. He will be missed by all his friends in Kelowna. Here’s a picture of Captain Al navigating the Rattlesnake Island channel on Lake Okanagan.

My sincere condolences to Al’s family and friends. I first met AL in Montreal Area Control Centre over 40 years ago and we immediately became good friends. A friendship that endured until his lat day. When my kids were growing up he was known as uncle Al and my daughter still wonders to this day how he got such big lips! From the days when Al would visit us at our cottage North of Montreal 35 years ago to just the other day at our diner table in Kelowna, Al was like part of our family. I loved him like a brother, and he will be greatly missed by Debbie and I. He was taken much too soon as we had so much more to do. RIP my friend.

    Maria and Family

We were saddened to hear of Al’s untimely death. We knew him for a short time but we felt it had been a lifetime. He became a lifelong friend very quickly. Al’s smile will always be remembered.
