We Remember

LAW, Lloyd Crawford

February 2, 1926 — April 1, 2016

Son of Wilbur & Evelyn Law, Lloyd was born February 2, 1926 at East Flamboro Township, Ontario. He passed away April 1, 2016 in Kelowna at the age of 90.  Lloyd leaves behind wife Irene; sister Ulea Wagstaff & sister-in-law Gladys Law; sons Crawford, Cecil (Susan), Donald (Linda), David (Nadine), Roger (Debbie) and families; daughters Mary Jane (Ivan) Howard, Nellie (Brian) Howard, Pat (Colin) Smith and families; stepsons from Elsie: Gary (Lynn), David (Cindy) & Donnie Whidden and families; stepdaughters from Elsie: Joy (Ken) Dunn & Nancy Moore and families; stepsons from Irene: Fred, Alan, Craig (Karen) Thring and families; and stepdaughters from Irene: Diane  (Sam) Morden, Carol Endrizzi, Sharon Thring (Ray), Patricia Faulconbridge and families.  Lloyd also leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and families.  Lloyd was predeceased by wives Isobel and Elsie, son Lloyd Benjamin, brother Leslie, sister Ariel Keyworth, brothers-in-law Roy and Fred, daughter-in-law Debbie Law, stepsons Freddie, Marvin, and Tony Whidden.  Lloyd was truly a family man.  He enjoyed a full life, spending the past 21 years with Irene in Kelowna, BC.  He and Irene travelled to Europe and many US destinations on many bus trips.  They also travelled from coast to coast, Victoria to Newfoundland many times to visit family and friends.  Lloyd belonged to the Rutland Senior Centre and was active in bowling and dancing, being on the Dance Committee for 15 years, always willing to organize and help in any way he could.  Lloyd was also a member of Rutland United Church since coming to Kelowna.  No one could grow a garden like Lloyd.  He was the envy of all the neighbours with his fantastic vegetables and flowers.  He was always thrilled to share his produce with the neighbourhood.  Lloyd would never turn down a chance to get into a boat and go fishing.  He was his happiest while sitting in the boat with the lines out.  Lloyd & Irene’s 20 children would like to thank Bonnie and all the Care Staff and Sun Pointe Village for giving Lloyd such good care and making his life in his home here so special.  We truly appreciate all the hard work they all did to give Lloyd the best quality of life possible.  Everyone loved Lloyd and he will be greatly missed.  A Celebration of Life will be held at Sun Pointe Village on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, 2268 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 1T2, as it has helped our family in so many ways.

Condolences

  • Janice and Marven Whidden says:

Our deepest sympathies to Irene, her family and ours. Marven and I were lucky to have spent quite a bit of time with Lloyd many years ago. He took in 2 teenagers when they were lost and hurt, helped put us back on our feet. He always had a smile for you and truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Love Marven and Janice

  • Patti Faulconbridge says:

Lloyd was truly a gentleman and a great addition to our family when Mom brought him to us. His gardens were a wonderful creation and he had A natural green thumb. He was outstanding in his endeavours – best spaghetti squash ever! We always loved his quiet nature and when he made contributions to the conversation we all listened – very entertaining and hilarious. XO.
