LIKES, Verna (Vera)

July 13, 1934 — December 9, 2017

Verna Likes, 83, entered peace on Saturday, December 9, 2017.  She was born on July 13, 1934 in Belousch, Poland.  Predeceased by her husband Orval Likes, her sons: Kenny Ladoon, Leonard Ladoon; first husband Matt Ladoon; brothers John, Bill, Eddie and Tony Wabischewich; sister Barbara and half-sisters Pauline and Nettie.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving sister, Kay (Morris) Symbalisty of Calgary, AB and beloved brother Peter (Janet) Wabischewich of London, ON; sister-in-law Lydia Wabischewich of Kelowna, BC; as well by favorite nieces Diane (Tony) Sumka, Helen (Walter) Storzuk and Ruthie Meagher, all of Winnipeg, MB, along with all their children.

She will be missed by her immediate family, Brian (his long-time partner Penny Rawlings) of Churchill, MB, Karen (Terry) Mitterer of Abbotsford, BC and their children Tamara, Kallum (Chantelle along with her little great grandson Kaiden), Tearah (and devoted partner Brad Telfer) and Konnor of Abbotsford and Chilliwack, BC and last, but not least, the youngest son of the family, Dale (Nicole) Ladoon and their children Logan and Quinn of Edmonton, AB.

The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Larry Bobyn for his dedicated, compassionate and outstanding excellent care of our mom through the many years.  As well, we wish to acknowledge and thank the kind and soft-hearted nurses and staff at Village of Mill Creek (JBR Residence and Skaha).

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 9 – 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave., Kelowna, BC with the funeral service at 11:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.   In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation or gift in Verna’s name to Village at Mill Creek, 1450 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 5Y5.

    The the whole family of Mrs Verna. I am deeply sorry for the loss of a great woman. I got the chance to have her walk into my life and create many good memories in which I will forever remember and hold. Thank you for that. May she be resting easy and watching over all who care for and love her. Maybe gone but NEVER forgotten! Fly free Angel xoxo

    To my Dear Friwnd Verna;

    I met Verna many, many, years ago in Churchill, Manitoba. She was an amazing person who meant a lot to my life. She was caring, nurturing and Motherly to me who was very young and had moved across the County to a land unknown, with no family and friends! She became my mentor, friend, and family. I knew all of her children, who are amazing.
    I can only say, that my time with Verna over the years was a blessing to life.
    Verna, my friend. I have loved and cherish you for over 50 years. Thank you for being part of my life. I will always remember you and love you.

    May you rest in eternal peace, and may one day when God calls me, we will meet again♥️♥️♥️ Janet
