We Remember

LYDYNIUK, Madeleine (née Buniak)

August 5, 1941 — October 6, 2019

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Madeleine, on October 6, 2019 at the Kelowna General Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Madeleine leaves behind her loving husband of 59 years, Harry; her brothers Ben (Grace) and Joe (Lily); her children Sheryl LaTosky (Neal), Wayne (Laura), and Lydia; her precious grandchildren Brooklyn, Kirstyn, Malynda (John), Angela, Junielle, Brandon, and Sandra; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Madeleine was born in Rosthern, SK, to John and Effie Buniak. Madeleine and Harry were married on May 7, 1960, and soon after their adventures landed them in Vancouver, Mica Creek, and Sicamous, BC, then finally residing in Kelowna, BC.

Madeleine loved her flower gardens and enjoyed doing crafts in her spare time. Madeleine held her family and friends close to her heart; she would do anything for them. There is a hole in All Our Hearts that will never be filled again.

A Service will be on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd. Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5V8; interment to follow at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Avenue.  In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, www.kidney.ca, or Heart and Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.ca, in Madeleine’s name.

I met Madeline & Harry when on vacation and that was 37years and stay friends . Madeline was an amazing lady, I considered her my mom away from home, My thoughts & prayers are with the family through today

  • Marsha says:

I knew madaline and harry for about 10 years. First met harry as he was playing in the garden. Madaline came out to do some “touching up” on her already pristine flower beds. We spoke for a few minute. Next thing I knew it was near supper time and we had been chatting about crafts and flowers and a million other things for 5 hours!
She was a lovely lady and so generous to give out friendly advice and a gentle hug. I will miss her giggle and her bright eyes.
My deepest sympathies goes out to her family. May you all reminisce in the memories of all the lovely thing your mom/ grandma/aunt shared with you. Madaline was a beautiful soul.
