We Remember

LYSNE, Ingrid Ruth Renata

April 30, 1960 — January 20, 2018

April 30th, 1960 – January 20th, 2018

Ingrid Ruth Renata Lysne, 57. Our beloved mother and friend passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2018 surrounded by family. Her last days were spent at the Central Okanagan Hospice House. She and her family were thankful for the care she received from the wonderful staff there. Ingrid is survived by her children Evan and Anna Price, brother Tony Lysne, partner Mike Martel, and many amazing friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret Ruth and Sverre Lysne.

Ingrid’s natural beauty, playful spirit, and humour will never be forgotten. If you were lucky enough to know her personally, there is a good chance that she played a practical joke on you or made you laugh. She was always ready to brighten other people’s days, and to make friends that would last a lifetime.

Born in Burnaby BC, Ingrid moved to Kelowna during the 60’s. She enjoyed skiing and dancing from an early age and was a talented highland dancer and ballerina.  Later, she enjoyed raising her two children in Ontario, Chase, and finally, Kelowna. She taught them so much and always made sure their childhoods were full of magic. A truly supportive mother, she volunteered much of her time to supporting her children and their classmates’ extra curricular activities.

She lived her life by the golden rule, and with love. Through her battle with lung cancer, there were many ups and downs, but Ingrid remained strong and positive. Her family is comforted by thoughts of Ingrid growing beautiful gardens, baking delicious banana bread, and dancing happily in heaven, just like she did here.

Condolences

  • Rhonda Rea says:

Evan it wasn’t very long ago that I met you when your Mom was in the hospital recently. I was amazed by her positive attitude and concern for her family as she went through her cancer journey so unselfishly. I remember Ingrid from school many years ago. I remember Ingrid being a great waitress at JAXX restaurant. I remember when her and Mike became close companions. What a wonderful saying she had to “believe and give people” a chance. My heart goes out to you, your sister, your Uncle. I’m very sorry for your loss. Mike my thoughts are with you as well. You and Ingrid were a great team. I’m glad you are planning a celebration in her honor on April 29th. She was so young and full of happiness being close to those she loved. I’m so grateful I got to hug her when she shared her story with me. My sincere condolences to each of you.
    Rhonda
