We Remember

MacLean James

MACLEAN, Jim MacDonald

November 17, 1930 — July 19, 2017

Our beloved friend and loved one, Jim MacLean went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2017.  James was born to John and Margaret MacLean on November 17, 1930 in Greenock, Scotland and immigrated to Canada over 55 years ago.  Jim was a great example of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.  His life reflected love, joy and peace, which was contagious to everyone he met.  He loved all of God’s creatures, especially West Highland White Terriers.  Jim is predeceased by his wife Marion (2015).  He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Shaw; brother Frank MacLean; two nephews and five nieces: Freeman Hodgins, James MacLean, Myla Hodgins, Carol and Margaret Houston, Linda and Lorna Shaw; as well as sister-in-law Elizabeth MacLean.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 27th at 10:30 am at Peachland Baptist Church.  Interment at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.

  • We are saddend to learn of JIm’s passing. Maggie & Ian have known JIm for over 5 years as we were all members of Kelowna Scottish Country Dancers. Jim loved his Scottish dancing. He was such a lovely man, a friend who had a great sense of humour, and had such a wonderful attitude. Jim will be missed by his fellow dancers at KSCD.

  • As a fellow Scot, from just outside Glasgow, next to Canada, Jim loved his association with his homeland. He was a keen Scottish Country Dancer and always enjoyed the opportunity to sing Scottish songs and attend Scottish gatherings. He had a great sense of humor and we will miss his cheery greetings at dancing. Jim will be remembered as a true Christian who loved his lord and was always willing to lend a hand when called upon.
Our regrets to all his relatives both here and across the sea.

  • I won’t be able to make it to the service but I’m keeping Jim in my thoughts at this time. In spite of all he had to deal with Jim was always cheery. He was a dancer until the end and I’m sure that he’ll be leading a reel or two up there.
