    To Penny & Family

I remember meeting Don in Halifax for supper with his golfing group of friends. My wife and I were on a holiday trip there and were invited to join the group by our mutual friends, the Robertsons. Little did I know I would have the privilege of becoming one Don’s golfing buddies with the Tuesday Group here in Kelowna. Don was always a pleasure to golf with and I will miss him. Lori and I are very sorry to hear of your loss and we send our condolences to you Penny and all of Don’s family and friends.

  • Jack and Sisko Hamer-Jackson says:

Through our good friends, George, and Jill, Robertson, we were lucky enough to have had the pleasure to meet Don, and Penny. Subsequently, I, became a member of the, “Happy Tuesday”, golf group. I think Don, added something to the life of all he met. His glass was always half full, and his attitude so positive. Tuesdays, will never be quite the same. Our condolences go out to Penny, and the family. We, will all miss him very much.

My sympathies to Penny and the boys. Don was a terrific role model to his sons, always ready to offer sage advice, support, encouragement and to top up your wine glass! The Body Shop franchisees, especially those in BC can thank Don for many of their successes. He, Penny and “the boys” were always to be counted on for their enthusiasm and energy. Don’s laughter and conversation will be ones we won’t easily forget.

My earliest memories of Don were as a young boy spending time at the “Flying 20” a ranch owned by Don’s Dad located between Penticton and Merrit in Southern BC. Many good times were had by all. Don was the image of his father with an easy laugh and compassion for all. He has left us too early and will be missed by many. We are truly saddened by his loss and extend our love and sympathies to his entire family and many great friends.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Don for the past 6 years and wish I’d have known him longer. He was full of advice, sound judgment, humour, and warmth.
His tales of his life’s journey (highs and lows) and encouragement inspired me to follow my passion and convictions. Don was at an announcement we did for widening Hwy 97 at the end of March. We chatted briefly and he said how proud he was of where I had taken my career. I will forever remember that. He will be missed deeply and for many years forward.

Peace and god bless to the Mcconachie Family.

    Penny,
Heart felt thoughts from Greg and me (longstanding friends of your sister Jane). We were priveledged to have shared laughter, wine and golf (Greg at least for the golf) in Palm Desert earlier this year. Don lit up the room and was such a gracious, engaged and larger than life host. We’re so sorry for your loss, and grateful we had the brief chance to connect with you both in the desert. Condolences from both of us to you and your family.
    Hugs,
