McDANIEL, Henry Earl

November 11, 1936 — September 4, 2017

Passed away peacefully on September 4, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Henry is survived by his loving wife Melba of 25 years and her children, Debbie (Glenn) Cross of Kelowna, Val (Gary) Erickson of Calgary, Lynne (Craig) Radcliffe of Ladysmith, Jim Fairholm and Pam Fairholm both of Kelowna; his sons Flint Rock McDaniel and Ricky McDaniel, both of Idaho; grandchildren Tyler (Chelsea) Cross, Jamie (Kim) Cross, Kory (Cassandra) Cross, Brodie (Leanne) Cross, Kelsa Cross, Bridgit (Chris) Grundling, Dustin Erickson, Lisa (Mike) Wright, Cameron (Jen) Fairholm, Kyle McDaniel and Alec McDaniel; great-grandchildren Allana, Myla, Brielle, Callie, Karsten and Addison; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends both here in Canada and abroad.  Henry will be remembered for his delicious deviled eggs, teaching the children the “Ham Bone” and his great sense of humour.  He had a family nickname for everyone who touched his heart.   We all shared many games of golf here in the Okanagan and in Hawaii.  He will be dearly missed.  A private family service will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.ca.

  • Dear Melba and Family,
I’m so sorry to hear the news of Henry’s passing. His fun loving presence will be very much missed at Maili Cove…the sound of his Southern accent calling up to my Dad on the second story unit “Can Bob come out to play!” is forever embedded in my heart. Henry always had a happy smile, a kind greeting or a thoughtful wave…such a wonderful man.
I’m sure there’s a crib game going on in Heaven.
Hugs & love to you all,
    Dawn Graham

  • May we send our sympathy to Melba and Family. Even knowing Henry for a short time as part of the Mission A&W coffee regulars, he will be missed. He was such a friendly and kind guy to all who he met. Still recall his sense of humour. He enjoyed teasing
people. That’s when his eyes lit up! Sorry for your loss!

  • To Melba and family
Just heard of Henry’s passing. Was so good to see you both just a few weeks ago at the Harvest Golf. We knew Henry was not doing well but he still had that awesome smile and fun loving spirit. Our condolences to you all.

  • Melba and family,
Was so sorry to hear of Henry’s passing. I was privileged to meet him at Maili Cove the first time in winter of 2013-14 when I stayed in my brother (Darrel Mortenson) unit. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile. Prayers and Hugs

  • Aloha Melba and Family,
It was with such sad hearts Bill and I heard of the news of Henry’s passing. You and Henry have been so much part of our Maili Cove Family, we will miss you so much. I will particularly miss hearing that cheery “Hey June-bug how are you doing”? And of course those devilled eggs at our pot lucks……how time moves on, whether we want it to or not!
Know that our prayers are with you all at this difficult time. If there is anything at all we are able to do for you on this side please contact us via [email protected] or 808-386-6962
    Loving your friends,
