Carnine, Grant (2010-07-13)
Grant Leroy Carnine Passed away July 13, 2010 at Hospice House in Kelowna, BC. Grant is survived by his wife of 45 years Beryl Carnine of Kelowna, BC; two daughters Ardy (Herb) Jones of Greenwood, BC, Lynn (Bob) Houle of Kelowna, BC; four grandsons, Todd (Tanya) Giles of Barrie, ON, Marty (Robin) Giles of Tucson, AZ, Shane Jones of Calgary, AB, and Tyler Jones of Burnaby, BC. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Molly Giles of Tucson, AZ, Zach Giles of Tucson, AZ, Ben Jones of Calgary, AB and Cale Giles of Barrie, ON plus four nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Grace and Roy Carnine of New Dayton, AB, his son Dr. Bryce Carnine of Bozeman, MT, his only brother John Carnine of Lethbridge, AB and a nephew Lance Carnine of Lethbridge, AB. Grant was born in Lethbridge, AB March 30, 1922. He was raised on the family farm in New Dayton, AB where he attended and graduated from High School. He enrolled in engineering at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, SK attending for one year before enlisting in the Canadian Navy where he served for 3 years. Following the war Grant moved his wife and new daughter back to the family farm in New Dayton where Bryce and Ardy were later born. In 1963 Grant sold the family farm and moved to Red Deer Lake, AB to concentrate on poultry production. Grant and Beryl were married in 1965: together they continued to build a successful poultry operation. In 1985 Grant and Beryl retired to Kelowna building a new home on the west side of the lake. Grant was active with the Wilson Landing Volunteer Fire Dept, Kelowna New Comers and Plus 3 Clubs making many new friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. Cremation; interment to follow at a later date.
