We Remember

PARKER, Frances Verna

September 11, 1929 — September 3, 2017

It is with sadness for our loss and gratefulness for a wonderful life that we announce the passing of our Mother and Nana, Frances Verna Parker on September 3, 2017. Mom passed away peacefully at KGH with her family by her side. Frances was a former long-time resident of Revelstoke and lived in Kelowna since 2003. She was born September 11, 1929 in Armstrong and was predeceased by her husband Doug, her mother and father Dorcas and George Weeks and her brother Kenneth of Revelstoke.
Frances is survived by her six children: Larry Parker (Loni), Deborah McGovern (Brian), Sharon Parker, Robert Parker, Jack Parker and Joan DeCock (Doug), 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Doreen Chaddock (Arnie) of Revelstoke and many nieces and nephews. Frances was a faithful long-time member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church of Revelstoke and St. Michael and All Angels in Kelowna. In Revelstoke, she was an active member of the church auxiliary, catering group and created crafts and afghans for the many local bazaars and fundraisers.
Frances trained as a nurse at Vancouver General and married Doug in 1952. She worked and served as President for Moberly Manor Senior Residence in Revelstoke for many years. She was a textile artist and created many works of art. Her beautiful crocheting, quilting, sewing, bazaar crafts and cake decorating were admired by many and she shared those talents with her community, church, family and many friends. In Kelowna, Frances continued to contribute to numerous worthy causes such as Doctors Without Borders, which she helped to blanket the world with her crocheted afghans.
Special thanks to Dr. Williams for his care.
