We Remember

RAMSAY, James Blake

It is with profound sadness and disbelief that we announce the sudden passing of James on June 15, 2016 at the age of 68. Jim leaves behind his wife Darlene of 33 years, his two beautiful daughters, Kathryn and Laura, whom he cherished deeply, his only brother John who meant the world to him, and all extended family.  Born in Edmonton, Jim spent his early years in Vancouver, attending Churchill High and then was in the Alumni year of Simon Fraser. He graduated in 1967 at the age of 19.  James worked in Vancouver, Nelson, Montreal and Toronto with various banks before arriving in Kelowna in 1976 at which time he ventured out on his own and started his own mortgage and investment company in 1977.  His passion for the culinary arts led him to be an amazing cook bringing together great times barbecuing on the deck at home; boating on the ocean with friends, and family, fishing with his friends, golfing with his buddies and of course every tv in the house was tuned into all sports stations!  The Ramsay family will be holding a Celebration of Life in memory of James on June 23rd, 2016 at 1-3pm at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pacific Whale Foundation (http://www.pacificwhale.org/) Donation Page: http://www.pacificwhale.org/content/donate-now.

Condolences

  • Leanne Duzsik says:

Darlene, Kiki and Laura – the past week and days are incomprehensible.
Jim was a good, kind man. He leaves a wonderful legacy that he worked so hard for. I was witness to the dedication he had to his company and family. I am thankful for the time I was able to work for Jim and especially grateful for our talks during football season.

    Cheers to a great man!

  • Henry and Joanne says:

    Dear Darlene, Kathryn and Laura,
We are so very sad and shocked about the sudden loss of Jim and our hearts are grieving with you. We can’t even imagine the pain you’re going through.
Jim was a fabulous man that we loved very much. We will never forget the incredible aromas from his BBQ wafting over our back yard and making us extremely hungry! He was a great neighbour but an even better friend.
We are sorry we can’t be at the Celebration of his life to support you, as we are traveling and can’t be back in time, but our love and hearts are with you all.
    Love,
    Henry and Joanne

    Darlene & family,
Jim always spoke so highly of your family and your winter trips to Hawaii. He was such a kind man, smart, fair, and very respectful. We (Jim Mercier and I) shared a nice night at your home with him and Doug when in town for our BCMMA meeting. He was so hospitable and always a great conversationalist. We will miss him very much. Our industry will not be the same without him. You are in our thoughts.

  • Rob & Stacy Reid says:

    Dear Darlene and family
Like everyone else it was with great sadness hearing that my friend Jim had passed away. My thoughts of Jim is that I always looked forward to seeing him as he had this way of making anyone in his presents feel that they are important to him. I am sad today and will be thinking of him often. However he also showed us how to live and I thank him for that. Our deep condolenaces for your loss, Jimmy will be missed.

  • Shig & Yukie Kamimura says:

We were so surprised to learn of James’ passing. It was a great pleasure to know him. We extend our deepest condolences to Darlene, Kathryn, Laura and John.

  • Oscar & Joy Reeves says:

Deeply shocked and saddened to hear the devasting news about Jim. Although we did not see each other frequently, we considered Darlene and Jim to be close friends from the “old” days when we lived there. He was a great guy with a keen sense of humour. He will be deeply missed. So sorry we will be unable to attend the Celebration, but we will be there in spirit. Fondest regards from Gabriola!

  • Warrender Fam...Pat, Brian, Trish and Alec says:

    Darlene, Girls and brother John,
Hoping the happy memories of so many good times will help to ease your pain and sorrow. One of my favourites was the time Jim invited neighbour families to a weekend of water park extravaganza. How generous and how fun that was!!! Another was watching him boat his Laura’s soccer team for hours dragging the yellow banana…the lake echoing with laughter. Jim beamed around his girls. He was a really good guy who will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.

  • Dorothy Mills says:

Dear Darlene and family, Karina and I just wanted to let you know how sorry we were to hear of Jim’s passing. He was such a kind person, always concerned about others, take care, Dorothy and Karina
