We Remember

RITCHIE, Doreen Marjorie (nee Hopkins)

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Doreen Ritchie, (nee Hopkins), aged 82, a lifelong resident of Kelowna, B.C. She died peacefully with her adoring husband of 64 years, John Ritchie and loving family at her side.  Her life was a full and happy one. We are all blessed to have shared it with her

At a young age, she was taken into the loving care of Judge Gordon and Estelle Lindsay of Vernon, B.C. Her beautiful voice led her to sing with the Vernon choir and a career choice to be a nurse was befitting of her kind heart and nurturing hands.

In 1953, John Ritchie married this beautiful lady and soon had six children in a span of seven years: Stuart Ritchie, Lindsay McFadden (Frank), Sandra Howe (Jim), Cathay Herron (Bob), Georgia Husby (Dave), Virginia Hoare (Tim); seventeen grandchildren: Aaron, Jordan, Jamieson, Elizabeth, Caroline, Stuart, Cameron, Andrea, Sam, Tyler, Courtney, Johnathan, Shauna, Thomas, Cate, Harry and Chessie and eighteen great grandchildren.

We are her proud legacy and will always love and adore this amazing, gracious lady and Mother, who takes a place in our hearts forever. She cherished us all, unconditionally. She was our mentor.  She will be treasured by her lifelong friends for her loyalty and kindness, not to mention those home cooked dinners, accompanied by the best pies that only a Mother could make.  We honour the grace and love of this wonderful woman, wife and Mother, who had the essence of the true human spirit.

Live and Love with all your Heart.

Now rest peacefully.

We love you!
