We Remember

ROSS, Florence

July 13, 1922 — April 15, 2017

Florence Isabella Ross (nee Goodland), in her 95th year, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Cottonwoods Care Centre on 15 April 2017. Predeceased in 2010 by her husband James Edgar Ross and her daughter Carolyn Gail Ross in 2007, Florence leaves behind her loving sons William Ernest and James Douglas Ross, granddaughters Jessica and Jenna, grandsons Michael Dyson and Walter Ross, great-granddaughter Isobel and many nieces and nephews. To the Chan and the Au families, Florence was like a second mother and she treated them as a part of her own family.

The epitome of style and grace, Florence will be remembered always for her love of fashion and her extraordinary skills with a needle. A masterful seamstress and teacher of her craft, she lovingly sewed wedding dresses and graduation gowns for friends and family, created beautiful baby quilts, and sewed much of her own and her husband’s wardrobe.

So many thanks to Audrey and Carol from Home Instead Senior Care, to Kelowna General Hospital, especially to Colleen, and to Cottonwoods for their splendid care. Your service and support will never be forgotten.

Condolences

  • Sally (Davis) Bauman says:

Sending my thoughts and prayers to the family. Jim & Flo were our first neighbors on McMurchie when we moved here in 1990. Both of them were such wonderful people and I thought of them often once I moved away. The world will be missing a special person but she will always be in our memories.

    Sally, Bobby & Kaytee Davis

Such a strong, beautiful, elegant lady. She will forever be in my heart. This photo is at her 90th birthday party. She is so lovely. As always. Brenda Wohlbold

  • Lindsay Bogden says:

Always elegant, dignified, kind and strong, Aunty Flo was an inspiring lady. I will always be grateful for the love she showed me and my family; I will always admire the way she lived her life; I will always hold her dear in my heart. Lindsay Bogden

  • Carolyn McKillop Oliver says:

Many happy memories of the Ross family growing up in Pointe Claire, Quebec. Our parents were great friends and I loved spending time with Mr. & Mrs. Ross, and Mrs. Goodland. Mr. Ross gave the Toast to the Bride at my wedding and Mrs. Ross was a role model – kind, funny, strong, talented! Carolyn & Paul Oliver, and Esther McKillop

  • Georgina (Gene) Strother says:

Flo was a friend for many, many years. She and her husband were neighbours of me and husband Richard when our children were in school and remained our friends through both our moves out West. She was a lovely and dear friend. I lost Richard in 2015. Sending sincere condolences to her two boys from our family.
