Passed away unexpectedly in Abbotsford, BC on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the age of 37.  Survived by his two daughters: Ireland and Sydney, and the mother of his children and his close friend Victoria Roy of Red Deer, AB; his parents Rob and Brenda Roy of Kelowna, BC; his sister Michelle Collie (Ted) of Kelowna and their children Zachary, Maya and Liam.  Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, many cousins and a vast array of friends.  Chris will always be remembered for his infectious laugh and smile and his ability to make us laugh. He had a massive capacity for love and always cared about the lives of others; especially his two beautiful daughters that he deeply cherished. He will be dearly missed by all of us.

The Roy family would like to thank the ICU Nursing Staff and Doctors at Abbotsford Regional Hospital for the very special care provided for Chris and in supporting the family with great compassion.

There will be a memorial service and celebration of life this summer at a yet to be determined date.  Should family and friends so desire, a memorial donation may be made to the Foundation House of Victoria BC for the great work they do, cheque made payable to “Umbrella Society” 512 Cecilia Road, Victoria, BC, V8T 4T7.    For those wishing to send a condolence, photos or share memories, may do so by scrolling down this page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

    I remember when we used to live next door in Edmonton, dressing up as Santa Claus for the kids….but could not fool Chris…he picked up the Jamaican accent right away. What a great smile…for sure it will be a beacon where he now rests.

    My most heartfelt condolences to all those whom Chris touched. He showed me kindness in one of my most difficult times. We reconnected on the coast and I got to know a very intelligent and passionate Chris. Godspeed to his dearest.

    I am so very sorry to hear that Chris passed away. He was very good friends with my son Dale and shared many evening with us with lots of deep conversations. He was a smart guy with many talents. This news must be so surreal for you as family. I pray, with time you will be left with all the good memories of Chris and the sadness will fade. Take good care.

    Here’s what my mom Paulette Breault (Marcel & Rosaleen’s mom) asked me to post for her: ‘Michelle, my condolences on your loss. I remember , you, Chris, Marcel , and Rosie, going to see the horses by Craigavon. Prayers for you and your family.’

    You all are part of my fond memories & are in my prayers as well. You guys were my among my first friends when making the big move from Edmonton to Sherwood Park & helped make that transition easier. Wishing you all strength in this difficult time.

    I am so sorry for your loss.Our condolences to you Michelle and your family. I remember Chris, yourself, Rosaleen, and Marcel being with your family when the tornado hit in Edmonton and Sherwood Park where we lived only a few houses down from you. You all had so much fun at West Ed swimming.

    I was a facilitator at foundation house and at Christmas Chris asked if he could help at an event for inner city kids, the two of us set up a massive net full of balloons for a balloon drop. I believe we did it 2 years in a row. Chris really wanted to be with his daughters, and he tried so hard. He is with my savior now.

    My condolences to the Roy family. Chris was one of my best buddies. He knew God and loved him. He has a heart of gold and loved his family and friends and would of done anything for them. Me and Chris have a lot of great memories together, I will never forget him. God bless.

    On behalf of Glad Tidings Victoria, Chris was very loved and appreciated. Whether coming to Recovery group, retreats, or even Sunday services Chris always rolled up his sleeves to serve. Thoughtful, compassionate, gracious. A real friend.

    I was Chris’ roomate at F house for about 6 months. I didn’t know him long but we related to each other well under difficult circumstances. He was a good guy to have met.

    I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I have not seen him in years but will never forget the sweet little man I used to babysit (nor his adorable little sister Bobby girl). My heart goes out to all of you.
