We Remember

SCHUBEL, John

Passed away March 17, 2017 at the age of 97. Survived by his loving wife Kathy, sons Fred (Krystyna) of Kelowna, BC and Walter (Adelaide) of Mesa AZ, grandchildren Alex, Adam (Meghan), Eric, Robert and Liesl and great grandchildren Fraser and Hudson. Also, survived by Wolfgang and Marlies Schubel, Monika (Walter) Ohnesorge and Martin Schubel all of Berlin, Germany.  Predeceased by his brother Josef Schubel and sister-in-law Gerda Schubel of Berlin and sister Lisa Ignatov of Chicago, IL.

John was born August 12, 1919 in Uivar, Romania and died March 17, 2017 in Kelowna, BC. In 1950 after WWII, he and his wife Kathy and son Fred immigrated to Canada where his son Walter was born soon after their arrival. John worked for Ontario Hydro in Toronto, ON until his retirement when the family moved to Kelowna where he spent much of his time gardening and taking care of his family’s needs.  A Memorial Service will be held on April 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Springfield Funeral Home Family Center, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC with Clair Jantzen officiating.
