We Remember

SCOTT Margaret Laverne (Arrell)

Margaret Laverne (nee Arrell) Scott passed away on 27 Feb 2016 at Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, British Columbia. Margaret was born 8 Aug 1943 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, third daughter of Vernon and Evelyn (Martin) Arrell. In 1962 she married Donald Charles Christie and during this time as a military spouse she lived in France, Germany, Edmonton and Cold Lake. In 1993 she met Gordon Scott and they were married in Cold Lake, Alberta on 20 May 2000. On their retirement, Margaret and Gordon moved to Kelowna, BC to enjoy the warmer weather.
Marg was a loving and caring person. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her daily routine was going for coffee at Timmy’s, watching the birds fight at the bird feeder in the backyard, watching hockey and playing games on the computer. She would spend hours picking her hockey players for her hockey pool where her main goal was to have more points than her son. During the winter months she also would work on her cross stitching.
She spent her Saturday nights going for dinner and cards at her daughter and son in law’s place where she loved to win more games than the “boys.” Her spunky attitude and her sharp wit will be sadly missed and will always be remembered in our hearts.
Margaret was predeceased by her father Vernon 1993, mother Evelyn 2003, infant sister Helen 1948, sister Joyce Gouthro 1991, husband Donald Christie 1991, son Robert Dwayne Christie 2001, nephews Timothy Gouthro 1965, Calvin Unrau 2003; sisters-in-law Betty Winter 1985, Doreen Janke 2011; and brothers-in-law Otto Janke 1995 and Lawrence Metrunec 2000.
She is survived by her loving husband Gordon Wesley Scott, son Keith (Val) Christie of Cold Lake, Alta; daughter Jodi-Lynn (Curtis) Vanasse of Kelowna, British Columbia; daughter-in-law Corinne Christie of Calgary, Alberta; sister Beverly (Richard) Unrau and brother-in-law Ellis (June) Gouthro of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; stepsons Michael (Geraldine) Scott of Black Foot, Alberta and Brian (Jeana) Scott of Calgary, Wesley Scott of Vancouver, BC; stepdaughters Angela Scott, Victoria, B.C. and Shelley (James) Macgregor of Port McNeill, BC; sisters-in-law Diane Metrunec of Bonnyville, Alberta; Sandra (Dennis) Cameron and Barbara (Donald) Anderson of Elk Point, Alberta; 17 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews too numerous to name.
