We enjoyed singing with Shirley in the kelowna community chorus. She was such a breath of fresh air. Positive, friendly and she had an excellent sense of humour. Barry and Heather Yeats

My sister Shirley was very special lady, she was like a mother to me when I was growing up and although she moved so far away she was always there for me. Shirley will be sadly missed always in my thoughts and in my heart. Wendy Bradshaw

  • Janet & Jeff Dean says:

Shirley was my big sister living so far away in Canada but we visited her many times and she visited us so she didn’t seem so far away.
Now we can’t visit her which will leave a big void in our lives.
She was a wonderful sister and will be sadly missed by all.
RIP, Shirley and don’t give Slavko to much grief.
    Janet Dean

  • Shirley Dreja says:

Shirley was a cheerful and willing volunteer at our Kelowna Grandmothers for Africa fundraising events. She greeted and directed guests at several Stride to Turn the Tide run/walks and helped at our African Dinners. We certainly enjoyed and appreciated her presence. She will be missed.

  • Patti Craig says:

Shirley was such a generous and friendly person. She took myself and family in in fall of 2012 when my husband was in ICU and was so gracious and helpful that week. She will always be remembered and her joy for living will hopefully sustain us as we remember her fondly

  • Patti Craig says:

Shirley was a generous and gracious lady who took in me and my family at a time of deep stress in 2012 as my husband was in ICU in the hospital. Her joy of living was something that should carry us all through this stressful time and some help to look to the future without her, Go in peace dear friend.

  • Charlotte Greenwood says:

Although my Auntie Shirley never lived in the same country as me she was still a special part of my life. As a child I was lucky enough to visit her in Canada a number of times. I remember the time we came for Christmas and we’re all ready for the snow and it was the first green Christmas in 20 years! We travelled high into the mountains to find the tiniest bit of snow. The day we left the snow came and we weren’t allowed to play in it as we were ready for the plane.
My other memory was coming in the Summer when Uncle Slavko had his barbers shop, we have a lovely picture of my sister and I in the barbers chair, we were so excited.
But the best memory I have is this book that Auntie Shirley gave me after a sat and read and admired it on one of our visits. 34 years later and it’s still one of my prize possession.
Always in my heart and never forgotten Auntie Shirley xxd

  • Glen Stosic says:

It’s impossible to think back on my childhood without warm memories of my godparents Shirley and Slavko, for whom I had such deep respect. Shirley was kind and generous to me in many ways — with her time, her library (from which I borrowed countless books), her encouragement, and wisdom. Along with my parents Kathy and Peter, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Shirley’s family and friends.
