We Remember

STEPHANSON, Robert James Bruce

On May 29th we tragically lost Robert James Bruce Stephanson.  Born February 28, 1986 in Saskatoon he began life at full tilt.  At a young age, he was already showing signs of mischief and being the life of the party. Rob began his love of hockey which led to his love of all sports, cheering loudest for the Riders.  Snowboarding became his true passion and brought him to Kelowna in 2005. His smile lit up a room and his laughter was contagious.  A kind, caring, hard-working young man who was a dedicated husband and loving father.  He leaves behind his wife, Kristi Russell, children Haedyn (8), Scarlett (4), and Ronin (2), loving parents, Murray and Elaine (nee Dougherty) Stephanson, brother Kylee (Jessie), grandmother Kathy Stephanson, the Dougherty aunts and uncles, Bill (Bonnie), Carol (Heather), Wilma (Frank), and Sam (Claire). The Stephanson aunts and uncles Bob (Val), Sheila (Michael), and Michael.  In-laws Linda and Jim Russell, sister-in-law Kathie (Allan), nephew Chase, niece Taya and his beloved dog Enzo.  Predeceased by his grandparents Stephan Stephanson, Audrey and Jim Dougherty, Stephanson uncles Eric and Don, Dougherty aunt Alma and uncle Robert James Bruce (his name sake). He also leaves behind all his friends and everyone who met him that considered him family.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 4:00 p.m. at Springfield Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Go Fund Me – Rob Stephanson Children Trust Fund.  Donations will also be accepted at the celebration of life.  We know that wherever he is, he’s welding that perfect bead. The echo of his laugh will live on forever in our hearts (BAHAHA).  If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction or depression please don’t be afraid to seek help.  If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

Kristi, Haedyn, Scarlett, Ronin and Family,
i cannot imagine the loss and sorrow you are feeling at this time. Louis and i are sending you hugs, prayers and love. Rob had that great smile and hearty laugh. Last summer he came to visit and seemed to show up at the perfect time. i was having a challenging day, well a visit and a good conversation with Rob really lifted my spirits. Then Louis came home as they were planning a working trip to Sask. i feel eternally grateful for his visit and how he changed my day. i remember when Louis told me that you both wanted him to be godfather to your children, Louis was so honored and proud. i know he will be there for you and the children Kristi….. Blessings and Love … Joan Casorso and Louis Ensign

Uncle Bob and I are so saddened to hear of Robbie’s passing ….Our heartfelt condolences go out to Murray and Elaine , Kylee and Jessie, Kristi and the children and everyone who loved that special fellow. We remember so fondly the Christmases spent in Melfort where Robbie was always the happiest of little boys…He always had a smile on his face and was always looking forward to the next family fun game that he could take part in….He will be remembered lovingly by us… “An angel in the book of life wrote down little Robbie’s birth…..Then whispered as she closed the book years later, “Too beautiful for earth”….. Uncle Bob and Auntie Val in Calgary

We are so very sorry to hear of your loss.
I am remembering a sweet little Rob coming to my house each morning with his “blankie.” He was such a happy, smiley little boy and a joy to babysit.
I didn’t know him as an adult but have wonderful memories of him as a child.

We were very saddened to hear of the loss of Robbie, our heart felt condolences to Elaine, Murray, Kylee, Jessie and Rob’s three young beautiful children and family. I have many fond memories of Rob growing up from his elementary school years to his teenage years. Always smiling and laughing and not one to sit still for very long. He was always loving and caring. I will never forget him taking time away from his friends to entertain my younger children when we stayed with Elaine and Murray. Much love being sent your way and our hearts go out to you. Love Shawne Jason and family

  • Thelma Kraushar says:

  • Joe MacDonald says:

So sad to hear of Rob’s death. Our hearts grieve along with yours. There is comfort and hope in what Revelation 21:4 says “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Also John 5:28 “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth;” What a happy time that will be when death will be replaced with resurrections and Rob will live again. Although these thoughts do not take away our grief may Gods Word be a source of comfort for you and your family.

  • Rodney, Betty, Krista, Erik and Wilma Sveinson says:

Murray and Elaine. it is with great shock and sadness that we learn of the passing of your son, Robbbie. Losing someone is always the most difficult time in one’s life, but losing a child goes beyond. We never got to know Robbie, but we hear that he was a fun-loving well liked young son, husband, and father; and that the world will not be a better place because of his passing. Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.
Kathleen, thank you for letting us know of the passing of your very dear grandson Robbie. We know how much time you have spent with your grandchildren and how much you love them all. Our hearts are with you in this very difficult time.

I am so grateful that you had Rob’s service live streaming. I think that was the most beautiful memorial and tribute I have ever seen. Thank you to everyone who shared words and memories of Rob, and thank you for the incredible slideshow of memories. I will forever treasure the time I had with Rob, especially his loving hugs, beautiful smile, amazing laugh, enthusiasm and zest, and loving role as a father. I wish I could be there but am sending all my love and aloha from Hawaii to you. Love Alli
