We Remember

STEWART, James (Jim)

September 29, 1927 — November 12, 2015

It is with very heavy heart that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Stewart on November 12, 2015.  Jim is survived by his son Brian (Joanne) Stewart of Kelowna, and his daughter Susu (Michael) Reid of Boston, MA, his son-in-law Bob Philip of Vancouver, his greatly cherished grandchildren, Melissa (Neil) Gelowitz, Briana Stewart, Justin Stewart, Sara Gray, Connor Reid and Katie Reid.  Also, his adored great grandchildren Carsen Gelowitz and Ryland Gelowitz.  Jim was sadly predeceased by his beautiful and loving wife of 62 years, Doreen Lorraine Wakely Stewart in 2012, and his beloved children Gayle Lorraine Stewart Philip in 2009 and Dr. Richard Charles Stewart in 1986.  Jim is also survived by his devoted brother Richard “Dick” (Rosemary) Stewart of Kelowna, and his cousin Francis Lanthier of San Mateo, CA.  Jim also leaves behind many cherished and loved nieces, nephews and friends.  Our father was an exceptional man.  His intelligence, wit, kindness and gentle manner were with him until the very end.  His family were always his priority and each of his children had their individual stories that always began with “My Adventures with “Jimmy-Boy!”  We wish to express our sincere appreciation to the caring staff of the 4th floor East at Kelowna General Hospital, in addition to the wonderful and thoughtful care provided by Dad’s longstanding Drs. Wendy Wickstrom and Rosalie Swart.  A celebration of Dad’s life will take place later in the Spring.  We will announce the place and date at a later time.  In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Canadian Arthritis Association Interior Regional Office, 150A – 1855 Kirschner Road, Kelowna, BC V1Y 4N7.
