October 7, 1939 — April 8, 2017

Born in Budapest, Hungary on October 7, 1939 and passed away peacefully on April 8, 2017 in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 77. Survived by her loving family, daughter Ramona Duret (Yvan); son Attila Szigeti (Vicki) all of Kelowna, BC; grandchildren: Michael, Trisha, Mitch, Devon, Tiffany, Tana, Megan; great grandchildren: Cydney, Dakota, Brayden, Kayden, Miabella, Tyson, Taylor, Lily, Maddex; sisters: Margaret and Etta and her brother Gyula.  Predeceased by her husband Miklos in 1997, her parents, two brothers and one sister.  Irene immigrated to Canada in 1956 where she met her husband Miklos on the journey.  They married in 1957 in Regina, SK.  Attila arrived in 1958 and Ramona came along in 1961.  She loved to camp and travel to the Okanagan for annual vacations.  Irene always loved to entertain at home.  Her passion was baking, which she did her whole life until retirement in 2000.  She moved to the Okanagan to be close to her family over 20 years ago and loved to travel.  A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 20th at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.  Inurnment will take place in the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, you may send flowers or memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.ca.
