Tanaka Shigeru

TANAKA, Shigeru

March 2, 1925 — November 1, 2017

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Shigeru (Shig) on November 1, 2017 at the age of 92. Shigeru was born in Prince Rupert on March 2, 1925.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Chiyoko; daughters Wendy (Pat), Linda (David) and Naomi; grandchildren Caitlyn (Jordan), Mariko (Paul) and Emily; and many friends.
Shig was an avid gardener and loved his garden. He enjoyed going to the casino, especially his Thursday casino outings.
The family would like to thank Dr. Adrian Bak, Dr. Linda O’Neill and the staff on 6W at the Kelowna General Hospital for their care and support.
A funeral service honouring his life will be held at the Kelowna Buddhist Temple, 1089 Borden Avenue on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 7:00 pm.

  • We are very sorry to hear about Shig. We have wonderful memories of him and his outgoing personality, especially at the fire hall and fishing trips into the bush. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Maurice, Richie and Jim Rolke.
