We Remember

WICKSTROM, Margaret (Peggy)

November 27, 1923 — January 21, 2017

Beloved wife of the late Desmond Wickstrom passed away peacefully at Cottonwoods Care Centre in Kelowna on January 21, 2017. She is survived by her children and spouses Patricia (David) Gorton of Aldergrove, Lorraine (Chris) Trautwein of San Ansalmo California, Ted (Kim) Wickstrom of Medicine Hat, Alta, Ken Wickstrom and Lisa Francis of Kelowna; seven grandchildren Neysa, Brent, Jo Ellen, Rory, Britta, Angela and Nadia, five great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was born in Penticton, BC and was a long-time resident of Kamloops, BC. She and Des enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, dancing and curling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. They built one of the first homes in Dallas outside of Kamloops where they lived for over 40 years. Strong friendships were built in the community that lasted a lifetime and continue through their children to this day.

For many years she worked for Irly Bird in Kamloops, prior to which she worked for Unemployment Canada and Royal Inland Hospital. She was renowned for her baking skills, especially her homemade bread and pies. She loved playing card games and bocci and was very competitive.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude for the care and compassion given by the staff at Berwick on the Park (Kamloops), Dorchester Retirement Centre (Kelowna), Cottonwoods Care Centre (Kelowna) and Kelowna General Hospital.

A celebration of her life will be held in Kamloops sometime in the late spring early summer. Notification to all those who loved her will be given well in advance.
