WIGHTMAN, Eric Redmayne

November 15, 1925 — August 27, 2016

Eric passed away peacefully on August 27, 2016. Eric was born in Manchester, England and moved to Kelowna with his parents when he was just a year old. Eric was pre-deceased by the love of his life and wife of over fifty years Kathleen (Kaye) Wightman in 2007. Eric is survived by his sister Doreen Davidson, his two children Glenn (Bev), Nancy (Allan Appel), four grandchildren, Clayton (Kait), Thomas (Marina), Jennifer (Jason), Shawn (Shayna) and four great grandchildren and one more expected in December. Eric grew up on an orchard in the Belgo. He met his wife (Kaye) at a church social event in Kelowna. They were married April 13, 1955 in the Anglican Church on Sutherland Ave. Eric drove transport for then Chapmans Transport which became Motorways. Eric was a very giving man and could always be counted on when the going got rough. Eric volunteered for a number of different causes but enjoyed most being a Mission volunteer fire fighter. He always did his best to help people in their time of need. Eric lived a healthy a prosperous life and will be missed by his family and friends. Special thanks to the caring staff of Sutherland Hills Rest Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC. Anyone wishing to pay their respects are invited to an open house on Friday September 2, 2016 between 1:00 and 3:00 pm to be held at 868 Lone Pine Dr. Kelowna.
