We Remember

YEWELL, Margaret “Peggy” (nee Herbert)

January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970

Our loving mother passed away peacefully in the Kelowna Hospital Stroke Unit on November 13, 2016. She is survived by her sister Dorothy McLean of Stetler, AB; sons: Rob of Kamloops, Grant of Lorbourn, SK; daughter: Coleen Black (Jim) of Kelowna; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband Roy; son Keith; brothers: Bruce and Dick; sisters: Anne of Kamloops and Betty of Red Deer, AB.  Peggy grew up on a farm south east of Delburne, AB.  In 1946 she graduated as a Registered Nurse from Calgary General Hospital.  She married Roy Yewell of Olds, AB in 1947 and lived on the farm until 1963, when the family moved to Kamloops.  Mom loved the weather there and spent many summer weekends with the family camping and boating at the Shuswap Lake.  In 1976 Roy and Peggy moved to a new home in Sorrento and from 1981 – 1985 they wintered and met many new friends in Mesa, Arizona.  In 1993 they relocated to Kelowna to be closer to family.  Peggy joined the Kelowna Gospel Fellowship Church.  She loved attended every Sunday and made more loyal and loving friends.  Mom always had a positive outlook on life, even when times were tough.  Her glass was always half full – she always said Yes.  She was loved by all and will be missed.  The family would like to thank the staff on 6 West at KGH, with a special mention to nurses Nancy Doyle and Margaret Meade.  There will be a Memorial Service on Thursday, November 24th at 11:00 am at the Kelowna Gospel Fellowship, 3714 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC.   If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”
