We Remember

YOCHIM, William J.

August 26, 1932 — April 2, 2017

William was born on August 26, 1932 in Kelowna, BC. He passed away in Kelowna on April 2, 2017 at the age of 84.  He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Yochim; daughter Donna of Kelowna; sons Randy (Pauline) of Midway, BC and Doug of Kelowna; grandson Jeremy (Jennifer); and great granddaughter Kiana.  Predeceased by son Jerry.  William was married on October 31, 1953 to his beloved Connie, whom he had met in Westbank, BC.  They were married for 63 years.  He worked 20+ years as a Supervisor at Sun Rype Products, and completed his career as the Purchasing Agent for Calona Wines.  In retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and travelling on numerous trips to Hawaii, and Yuma, Arizona.  William’s children and grandson’s fondest memories are of his love and his belief that family comes first, which he instilled in every one of us.  Our thanks to the staff at Sun Pointe Assisted Living, Sutherland Hills Retirement Home, and Interior Health.  There will be a private family service held.  Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC, 300 – 828 West 8th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1E2 (www.alzheimer.ca/bc).

  • Robbie Pearson says:

Donna, Randy, Doug, and dear Connie, I am so sorry to hear that Bill passed away. He was such a kind, heartful, authentic man. When I was in town I loved to drop in with Mom (Flo Schumaker) to visit. She never passed Sun Pointe without thinking of your dad and mom. He was a dear dear friend to her and dad (Bill Schumaker) and to our whole family.
Please find some comfort in knowing how loved he was, and of the family values he instilled in you.
    A hug to Connie please.
    With love,
    Robbie & Gord (Pearson)
